Would this mod work?
I was working on my trigger setup for my 98c last night and went to make sure it still fired after doing some of the mods by hy holding the bolt so it wouldn't dry fire and the trigger pull was really really lite. So I went out to test fire it with some paint and it wasnt as lite. I figured the reason it was lighter before was because I was taking pressure off the sear. So I was wondering If I cut the main drive spring to reduce the pressure on the sear if it would lighten the trigger pull without making the gun unreliable by firing by itself when its shaken or hit to hard or somthing.

Sorry this isnt an answer but you made me think of a question... What is the sear? I've seen it written in several threads but not really explained.

look at the blueprint of the trigger setup in your manual. Its what holds on to the bolt untill you pull the trigger. When you pull the trigger it moves the sear and lets go of the bolt allowing the gun to fire.

The light trigger mod isnt nearly as light when your gassed up with the bolt back becuase of the pressure put on the sear by the bolt.
The sear is the long silver peice that catches the bolt

cutting down the drive spring will reduce the pressure exerted on the vaulve system, thus resulting in the gun not firing, firing w/ low velocity, or just kinda burping. one thing that u can do, you may have already done it though, it to enlarge the pin that the sear rests on when it is at its lowest point, this will make your pull shorter, also, have u done the sear spring mod(rubber bands)? that will help some too. the only thing that you could do to the main drive spring to lighten it up would be to replace it with a somewhat lighter spring(maddmann spring kit).

i only had to put some on the sear pin because i made the pull so short, the trigger was raised so high that the sear would set above it when it came down,it would just push into the back of the trigger,so i had to lift it bit

enlarging the sear pin makes for a much shorter pull overall. i need to do the q-tip mod.

i won't cut the spring. If i am think what your saying is that you cut the spring on the trigger. You can do the clicky pen thing found in the mod sticky. If you mean cut the srpign on the sear that will make it harder. You have you polsihed your gun yet, that helps a hell of a lot, it reduces the kick a lil and when yoiu dry fire it you can tell that it is smother and faster.
