Talking Tippmann Model 98 or a different one...

My friend has a Tippmann Model 98 that he will sell to me cheap.I have played with it, and it worked awesome, but it was fairly heavy and didnt fire very fast...he didnt have any mods on it except a scope and Dye barrel....

My question to everyone...Should I get his Model 98 or get a Spyder?

I play a little woodsball and some speedball, half and half...we play woodsball in my woods, and then play speedball on the powerlines, great fun...The Tippmann was great for woodsball, but didnt perform so well in speedball....anyways, I want to have a gun that can fire a good rate of balls, without a whole lot of effort...

Anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks!!

Well if your really wanting to go for bps, then id go with a spyder, but first, tell my if how much he is wants for the tippy. If its low enough and you dont care about tournament legality then you should get the tippy and put a response trigger on it.

A stock mechanincal spyder is no faster than a tippy. The spyders dont get any speed to them until you get up in the Imagine and higher grades. Besides, spyders are ugly.

Yeah, I know spyders are ugly. Okay, My friend said he would give me his Tippmann Model 98 for.......$100, comes with the Dye barrel, sight, and sight rail, also a hopper, and 3 CO2 tanks, a 9, 12, and a 20 oz. All for $100...are response triggers legal at playing fields? I want to do some playing at some fields and didnt know if they are legal or not...anything found be awesome...

Thanks!

Sonds like a decent deal but stay away from the RT if you are gonna play fields alot because they are worthless at a field unless they let you run it full auto. I would recommend a double trigger and doing the clickey pen mod and the orthodonic brace rubber band trigger mods. That will give you about 10 bps which is plenty. Use that money on an empire reloader. If its an older M98 I think you will have to hack saw the trigger guard off and run the double trigger without a trigger guard. But if its a removable plastic trigger guard this wont be an issue.

yeah r/t is useless at a field, soem will tell you to get out cause it is close to full auto. that is a great deal and your field must have a dye ultralit for around 90 now, or a dye, come on i can't think of name, it is 120 and pretty lite. Someone tell me the name cause i don't feel liek lookign it up. yeah dyes suck, even tho i ahev one, a 120 dye you can get much more. I knwo you are gonna use that barrle but good barrels for eyi, everyones, LINK TANKEN OUT CAUSE IT IS MY LIL SECRRET, LOL, yeah if that doesn't work pm me. It let a impy at 250 hit a basketball size, head, at least 6 times in a row rippign around 14, that ain't easy to do and they are cheap for waht you get.

boomsticks are so freakin overrated...accuracy does not come from a smooth barrel...it comes from good paint to barrel match. If your willing to put down 120$ u might as well put in another $40 and get a good barrel kit.

i wrote broom oh well anyway you that hammerhead barrle is a really good barrel. the kit starts at 180ish and goes higher, but it is a good gun adn you can get many backs. Anyway why has this gone to barrles the boomstick will work and you seem to be on a tight budget so i would just keep it and match paint to the barrle instead of the other way.
