Help! I'm An F'in Noob!
H-okay, so to get things straight (somethin my cousin isnt) I'm just 13 and absolutly HOOKED on paintball......BTW im a nOOb..... Anywho, I need some help with a new set up for my Tippmann 98 custom. I have no upgrades so far and I'm flat BROKE. My Grandparents are coming soon and They give me at least 200-300bucks each time they come. Now heres the part I want some help on and its simple... what should I get? I dont want one item listed that will drain half of what money I get. FOR EXAMPLE Flatline... holy crap those are expensive)... anythin else would be good though.(I need ALL aspects, elbows, hoppers, triggers, barrels, sights, try not to leave anything out)
PLEASE NOTE: I DO NOT WANT TO GIVE UP MY TIPPMANN, NO SUGGESTING OTHER GUNS PLEASE!!!!
Thx a bunch
P.S. Can someone tell me what an electronic hopper/gun does and what r the cons and pros of having an electric?

All I really needed for any of my Tippy's was a barrel, anything bigger than 14 inches gets in the way.

New barrel definently. Look into an expansion chamber or regulator

Expansion chambers allow the co2 to expand before entering the gun
Im not too sure about regs cuz i dont have one
I suggest a teardrop barrel for $45, i used to have one b4 the flatline
Electric hoppers are normally for faster guns, i have mine so i never get any jams or misfeeds like in a normal hopper. Disadvantage is batteries
Dont know too much about sites other than not to get a scope but to get a red dot
Drop forward is a must if you think the gun is uncomfortably long. There are some nice ones out there but i dont know too much about them iso im not gonna comment on them.
Thats about it, remember its the player not the gun. Im getting a sl-68 to test my skills and to have fun in speedball with a pump.

i hehhee. as for the tippy, expansion chamber, new barrell(dye or j&J), doulbe trigger, umm thats about it, ohh yeah, if u don't have one, get an electro hopper, and don't get a vl quantiam(sp), they suck balls(but they do a crappy job of feeding them!!). don't forget to save some cash for paint and air, and if u have the cash, like next time they come, get a react trigger. but i'm still w/ cockerrocker. after you've been in the sport for a while, and get out of playin only in the woods/backyard, you'll see that your tippy isn't the greatest thing ever invented. jsut my 2 bits. couple other things, a regulator keeps the air pressure going into your gun more constant, thus increasing the consistancy, etc of your gun. i would also get a drop foward, don't do an electronic kit on your tippy, its just plain stupid. save that money for a better gun on down the road when your out of the woods(like i am now, and i'm upgrading from a tippy to a cocker).

its ok, a "fast gun" is able to hit the double digits in bps easily. They tend to be electronic. Electronic guns have a board inside that does stuff........ Someone else will have to explain the intricacies of an electronic guns firing systems cuz im not too sure how the boards work other than they let you shoot fast lol.
98c is generally not a fast gun unless you get a response trigger, about 90-100 dollars

one other thing, don't go buy any type of sights for your tippy, smitty has a sweet tippy, and a sight, but they really don't do much for you. especially at any kind of range, all they do is eat your money, batteries, and get in the way.

Dude get a cocker. A bunch of 03 cockers are going for anywhere between 200 and 300 bucks. Cockers are real nice guns. Even the mech ones. And no one will think your a noob anymore. That is until you play... Lol j/k

no problem, i get that alot, anyway, i was thinkin about gettin a cocker or somethin but im still very new to the sport and still need to get the hang to a simple gun, i mean, im frightened of breakin it if i open it, so, u get the picture. My local dealer said to wait like 1 more month till i go off and get other guns, i mean, she even says shes had the same 98c fer a few years all factory and it still works fine. so, ill just keep my tippie a while longer until i get a tad better. And I know i wood impress every one if i had a cocker but i want to experiment with upgrading first, then i get bigger better stuff
thx

dude, what you are doing is very smart, hold on to the tippy 98c, learn about it, its a good entry level gun, its pretty indestructable too so you can take it apart, look at the internals and get used to having it, than down the road when you think you have outgrown it, upgrade to a cocker or bushy or impulse or whatever
a good barrel would be anything from Smart Parts (teardrop, progressived etc.) J&J evil, even JT has a couple good barrels.
As for sites, Red dot sites are only good if you have a flatline barrel
