Yah seriously guys most ball breaks are from the hammer smashing your ball before it even gets into the barrel. This is what chopping is.

Word on the street says tippmann effect wont be using 98's for too much longer. (According to one of their players who posts on this forum)

Bolt hits the paint, not the hammer. And on LXed Mags, the bolt doesn't hit the paintball.. It gently nudges teh paint ever so slightly at speeds of 280fps.
Freak >Dye boomie and ceramic
Tippmanns aren't high end markers. Could you race a stock Honda elantra in a drag race? Yea, but you're racing with a handicap.
You can make the A5 a good gun, but the cyclone holds it back A LOT. IT only feeds 13bps.

with current day barrels and paintballs...you should never break a ball in the barrel if your shooting the correct speed...with a good barrel...and good paint.
ive been shooting my pipe all year...havnt had one barrel break yet...ya i have had a chop here and there...but no barrel breaks.
|
believe it or not, the barrel could have something to do with it.. that looks like more than one break. And if youve ever chopped a ball with a freak kit, youll know how bad it blows. The paint left over in the barrel from the chop will cause other balls to start barrel breaking. where as a pipe has good clean out rates, the freak sucks at cleaning itself out.

Well, 13 BPS isnt that bad...I mean, I like kinda fast guns, but I dont like slow rate of fire guns like tippys...I played with a Tippy Model 98, with a Dye Boomstick, I think, I know that barrel sucks...I hated palying with the 98. I couldnt fire that thing for crap, I had about 6 BPS, and with the DYE barrel, the balls were curving like a mother f'er, so thats why I got a Spyder Imagine, and I love it a hella lot more than those tippys, so I wouldnt touch a 98 if your gonna get another gun, but only if your gonna use it for woodsball only...only woodsball....

That barrel doesn't suck, buddy. It's just the fact that the Freak Kit is better than that because, well, it's a kit.

I can honestly say i played speedball with my tippmann and loved it.. A drop forward, longer front grip and lighter trigger was all i really needed all the other stuff was just for giggles. I dont know if everyone sucked or i was good but i did fairly good. I liked peoples reaction when they got out by me. i am going to take some pics in a lil bit and post them to show you my speedball setup

beleive it or not no barrel will clean itself out...the fact that the pipe kit can do it is exclusivly to that barrel (and a few others...not many though) however some breaks wont be able to be cleaned out...
either way the freak kit doesnt keep breaking...i played a few games with a tippmann wit a freak on it a few days ago and it was fine. I copped 1 or 2 over the course of a few games but they didnt keep breaking.
if they keep breaking...u most likely have a to small bore size...thats exactly wat happend to a guy at the field the same day...had to big of paintballs...so kept breaking.

i realize there are some barrels that do it...liek the pipe...however it is not common.
and when someone says it doesnt clean itself out...no one is surprised cuz almost all barrels dont.
however there are the few that do have that convience

ok, i think you guys took me a little too literaly, not even a pipe will clean itself out completely, but it does more so than a freak, in fact, a lot of barrels clean themselves out better than a freak. and paint left in a barrel can cause other breaks...

i do not beleive paint in the barrel breaks the ball...however there is no way to prove or deny this claim.
however in the past whenever i have seen multiple breaks...was cuz the bore size was to small for the ball. That will do it though.
