98 CO2 leaking problem

Damnit I hope I posted in the right section this time, very sorry mods.}

Anyway, I love my 98c it rocks I have a CAR stock and just got a remote line today, however I seem to have a leaking problem. When I screw in my CO2 I can immediatly hear it leaking, it is the loudest right next to the barrel. The wierdest part is that after I shoot a few paintballs (or, after the first game) it stops. This doesn't hinder me to much but I would like to know why I am losing CO2, any ideas?

I had a problem like this a month or so ago. What it was is a flake of loctite had found its way into the valve and was stopping the o-rings from sealing up. You might have something like that.

If you're feeling mechanically inclined you can take the valve apart and clean it. It isn't as difficult as you might think.

You'll have to strip the marker down, remove the airline from the power tube, and then remove the valve from the tube as well. Here's a guild to taking the actual valve apart.
http://www.model98.net/tts1.html

Clean it out, put a drop of oil on the o rings and get it back together.

If you don't think you want to do this, a shop will get it sorted out. For a fee of course.

EDIT....

on second thought, since it stops after you're playing the rings might just be dried out. Take the barrel off the marker and make sure it has no paint it in. Now put 4 or 5 drops of oil in the ASA (tank connection) and gas it up. Shoot about 20 or so times to get the oil worked through the valve. See if that works before you break it down.

yeah the valve is dry, oil in the ASA will fix it. If it doesnt then you need to break down the valve and clean the seating surfaces like the guy above me said. Not that hard of a task or a new valve is like 35 bucks

Long term solution would more be tearing the valve down and giving it fresh O-rings or at least cleaning it, and sometimes cocking the marker before putting the tank on helps.

the problem here is not that you didn't precock it. that isn't an issue w/ tippys. the issue is either A. dry internal seals(solution: oil). or if that dosn't take care of it you need to tear down the valve for cleaning. usually some oil will fix it, but sometimes not.

Why do you have to cock it before you put the tank on??
