Oiling my A-5
I have an A-5 and gun oil, I was wondering what parts of my gun to oil. I dont want to go oiling down anything that isn't supposed to be.
Another question, I've heard that if you have an autococker that you should put few drops of oil in the tank adapter and then screwing the tank back on and fire 10 shots. They said that will help keep the gun nice and oiled. Will that be OK to do in my tippy?

Oiling the ASA, or tank adaptor, and dry firing without paint or a barrel will oil your valve internals and about everything else in the marker. Other than that, oil up the O-rings.

There might be more, wait for an A-5 owner to say something. But the ASA thing and O rings are pretty standard for anything.

oil n e thing that moves and has the potential to run up against somethign (except where the sear catches the hammer)
also put a few drops in your ASA...gas the gun up and fire to get the oil moving int he gun.

I called tippmann about a similar issue..they say the most crucial part are the internals...which all you do is put 2-3 drops of tippmann grade oil in the asa and fire 1-15 shots...also if you want...they said you can put no more than 2 drops in the line that feeds gas to the cyclone feeding system. but this is not neccessary on a regular basis...like once every six months. they told me that it will help prevent jams, and will also turn for the shots that you take when you are low on c02 or N2...hope this helps

recommended by tippmann is the Hoppes #9 which can be found at your local Wal Mart/Kmart/gun store.

I oil any moving part in my A5. this would include the linkage arm, rear and front bolt, drive spring, all o-rings.
Hoppes #9 is good ir any air tool oil. Personally i prefer MD Labs XF-7 Weapon lube, its been very good to my guns including my regular firearms, plus its o ring safe. As far as oil goes dont use anything with petroleum dissilates in it.

yea pbmoto is right, just drench the internals in oil after every day of hard pb-ing and fire maybe like 50-100 shots. the point is that when u cock it back with out paint or air it should make very little noise. i usually used take like 7 or 8 cotton balls and shove them in my cyclone and manually spin it like 10 or 20 times, it cleans it out pretty well. inside the cyclone us should clean every 2 or 3 days, it doesnt get that dirty. just lube up the sproket, spring and some of the wall that separates the chamber from the mechanical parts. if u have an R/t its a good idea to lube the piston like 1once a month or once every 2 mos.

never oil the spricket or other parts on the cyclone!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it will make the clear parts brittle in several months and will cause it to tail. Other than that oil as the same as any other marker

should remove the flatline barrel prior to oiling, just to avoid oil from entering on to the rough surface on it? Or will it all stay strictly inside the chamber?

I'm sure it wasn't your little brother, but I once had a screw do the same thing to me when i was working on my truck and I used an easyout that are availible at hardware stores and autoshops but depending on the size of the screw you may not be able to use this method. If you can find an easy-out small enough just drill out the center of the bolt being extra careful to stay straight, becase if you hit the threads of the hole you'll never get another screw in that hole, once you have the hole take a hammer and pound the easy-out into it and then take a wrench to turn the easy-out out and your screw will come with it.

if that doesnt help you then the best thing for you to do would be to google tippmann A5 and watch the basic maintenence of the a5 by fear paintball. they show you step by step what to do, just make sure that you dont forget where things go when oiling the internals. my first time of oiling my a5 was a little tricky and more complex than oiling a real gun. but after a few times you'll be able to do it in a heartbeat.
