yea its on pbn...

its gonna be in Bolingbrook, which is basically a suburb 30min outside of downtown chicago. its at some aquatic center, but i guess they have like open park/fields or somethin, so itll be hosted there.

Margaret Resnick, deputy director of parks and recreation, confirmed that representatives from Paintball Sports Promotions toured the site and surrounding community April 15 and indicated Bolingbrook was the leader among five or six other Chicago-area candidates to host the event.

"The paintball representatives on Friday told us they recommended Bolingbrook to their superiors, now we just have to wait for a proposal to work from," Resnick said.

Details of the event were to be provided to the Park Board in a workshop session prior to the regular meeting scheduled for April 21.

"We always encourage staff to pursue events that are unique, especially if the event has a recreational benefit," said Jerry Hix, Park Board commissioner and liaison for Revenue Facilities.

"This won't require board approval. We just need to look at the details and make sure the event is in keeping with philosophy, that we are protected," said Hix.

More than 170 10-person teams would participate in the event, including some that will travel to Bolingbrook from other countries, officials said.

"It's an international tournament, and some of the competitions have been shown on national sports cable channels," Ochromowicz said.

Park officials expect the number of participants and spectators to exceed 2,500 over the course of the four-day event, an infusion of cash-spending consumers that could have a significant positive impact on local businesses.

Ochromowicz said the district expects Paintball Sports Promotions to submit a report projecting financial impact to area businesses within a week.

"We'd like to be able to translate that into an idea of what kind of revenue we will be able to provide the village in terms of sales tax revenue and hotel tax revenue," Ochromowicz said. "It could be significant."

In addition to the possibility of bringing additional business to area venues such as Bolingbrook Golf Club, theaters and restaurants, park officials said the event also could bring more publicity and usage to park facilities such as Pelican Harbor Outdoor Water Park, Boughton Ridge Golf Course and LifeStyles Fitness Centers.

Officials said the Chicago area has played host to the event twice in the past — Maywood Park Race Course during non-racing season, and a south suburban private paintball facility — but the Bolingbrook Park District could eventually be selected as a recurring site.

"If this goes well, perhaps we can host it more than once," Ochromowicz said. "Some of the things that impressed representatives from Paintball Sports Promotions were the amenities available such as hotel rooms and restaurants, as well as the open area necessary to conduct their tournament."

During an on-site tour April 15, Paintball Sports Promotions officials reviewed the 12-acre site south of the BRAC, as well as the surrounding community.

"They needed a minimum of eight acres of relatively flat ground; we have at least 12 available. They need 1,500 hotel rooms over a two-day period, and the area has an abundant number of hotels. More than 2,000 people, including spectators, will need to be fed and entertained, and we have plenty of restaurants in Bolingbrook and the immediate area to cater to their needs," Ochromowicz said.

Park officials are still awaiting a final proposal that discusses compensation for use of the facility, additional security and maintenance required, as well as a parking/shuttle bus and staffing plan.

Haha, it just depends if my friend is still playing with them after Tampa. He is playing with Dynasty Dynamics in Tampa, so if he gets on the x-ball squad then he may be playing with them then, so I may be able to pit, but if not I'm pitting for HK.

Well I live in michigan but my bro lives down in chicago for this summer so I may "visit him" and then come check it out for a few hours. I have never been to a pro tourny so I would really like to go.
