What should I know about our first tournament?
Some friends of mine and myself are entering a rookie/novice tournament in June. This will be our first one. We have played together alot, but that was woodsball. A few weeks back, we built a speedball course and have been practicing. What I wanted to know is this. What did you wish you had known the first time you entered a tournament? If there was one thing you could tell me about tournaments, what would it be? Thanks guys, awesome forum!

The best way to practice is to play at the feild where the tourny is.
Just play the tourny like you practice. Communicate and keep your guns up.

comunicate, shoot and make shure you know where you are going just dont assign 1 bunker to a person, make shure they know were there 2nd or 3rd bunkers are and what to do if some one gets hit out. just dont go on the feild and say im gunna go to that bunker, make shure you have a plan after you get to that bunker.

dont let people with better guns or equipment intimidate you. i remember when i 1st started playing tournemnts... we used to always see what gear other teams had to asess their talent. then, after awile everyone and every team had 03 dye core jersies and a timmy with a was equilizer. it was then when i stopped careing about what other people had.

There are so many things you "should" know before entering a tournament. The biggest thing I would probably tell you is to walk the fields before the tournament intently, and then walk them again. Make sure you have a plan before "game on" or you won't stand a chance. Other than that have good communication and work together as a team.

Yea I'm alive and well. I was at college so I wasn't really playing that much. But next year I decided to commute to college mainly so I could keep playing. It's good to see that some of the old memebers are still with us!!

thanks for the help guys. one other thing, this is a beginner tournament. Is there any standard criteria tournaments use to describe who can enter this "class"? I saw another tournament where the was a beginner class which was described as 1 year or less of tournament experience. Are all tournaments the same or does the criteria change from tournament to tournament? Thanks again.

Bring lots of paint, you will be amazed how much paint you can go through.
Also talk to the promoter and get a copy of the rules you will be playing under

I wish before my first tournament I would have had played speedball. Thats the biggest one here. Another is I wish I would have had bettter gear and more knowledge about the sport of paintball or the tournament side anyway.
