new to the tourney scene
I've been playing rec ball fro about a year now and this winter my fields havinga 3 man tourney sort of thing. it'll be more for fun and field promotion than for glory but I still want to do well. I've got my two other players lined up and have played with both of them several times (cuz it's a father and son).
i've read the stickes but i still got a few questions. we can't pratice much since they have lives and so do I. so i think our best bet is to read read and read some more.
after reading the stickies, I'd like to know some mroe information about laning and snap shooting. it seems everyone's talking about laning and I'm not really sure what it is.
and could i get some stratagies for a 3 man as well? I'm thinking abotu being creative and sending all 3 down teh side opposite the snake or something like that. is that a bad idea or am i just crazy? another thing i thought of is keeping one towards the middle of the field(behind the back bunker) so he can see and talk to us. and then one more down the snake and the third down the inside of the field, next to the snake. I'm not sure of the field setup yet cuz theyre' not done building it..but if i coudl get some other ideas that would be great.

Laning is shooting a stream of paint down a "lane" per say on the field, in which you expect someone on the opposite team to run through. You generally shoot low, and out 10 feet out from say the back right, so you hit their player running/sliding into his primary.
Snap shooting is when your in your bunker, come out one side with as little profile as possible, snap of one or 2 shots, then snap back in before you get blasted in the face. Remember to keep your hopper tilted in, and to watch your feet if your standing up. This is where gun skills come into play, everyone can hit someone leaning out with 30 balls, but the best players can snap out and put their first shot where they want it.
AS for a 3 man strategy, when playing rec my team would generally have 2 guys laning off the break, and send one small guy to the 50, then one of the laners takes like the far right after laning. In 3 man if you can even shoot out one guy OTB then your pretty much guaranteed a win unless you really **** up because you have the #'s and the angles and can pinch their guys out if you know what your doing.
Here is a great thread that Diemus put together off of the dynasty dysected video. He's a cool guy and tears people up on the xball field.

While this will give you the basics, if you actually watch the dysected video, you gain so much little pointers from the dynasty guys that you really notice an improvement in your game.

Laning-Shooting a line of paint pretty much.
Strategy? 2 guys laning, one guy go to 50, and then have the 2 laning guys break off to right and left.

Get a fourth lined up. It would really suck to be down 1 player b/c someone couldn't keep a promise.

Deimus definitely did a nice job with that thread. Definitely pick up that DVD as well, and read as many magazines as you can to pick up little tips. The biggest thing though is to practice. Even if you are jsut practicing with your gun around your house.
For some people, paintball can be a once a week thing where they pick up their gun one day a week and go out and play. For most of us we hold our guns every day and just get used to the feel of it, and practice snapping while just sitting around. Thats the difference between tournament ballers and rec ballers. Tournament ballers make it their lives.

Reading can only take you so far and that isn't very far. You need to practice, don't expect to not practice and do well.

well the thing is sic they're father so they either both coem or not come at all. it's not mandatory to show up every week so it shouldn't be a huge problem. plus I've never played with anyone i trust being on my team. I've got a friend who plays but he's not really great.
so when you say a man runs up to the 50 are you talking about the midddle of the field or one fo the sides? it sure would suck to run up the middle of the field while the other team's laning at you.
so i understand laning now. pretty much you guess where thier teams, going and you shoot at it..got it. now that i understand snap shooting, i realize I've bene doing ti but i stay out too long and always get blasted in the face..something to work on.
thanks for the info and vid. once i get my sound working I'll check it out

the sides of the field are the "tape"
50 refers to the middle. Just imagine a football fields yard markings on the field. W/ ur breakout box being the 0 or TD zone.
Laning the back corner bunkers is smart. Backs love to go to those. BUT, u have to be fast. Too slow and by the time ur paint reaches the corner, they are already there, safe and sound.

Yeah, if your not used to tourney paintball, get used to snapping your gun to your shoulder and getting accurate shots off really fast. You all start with barrels on the deadbox, whistle goes, and if your even slightly slow, the guys are already sliding into their primaries.
Some places dont allow you to keep your gun above your waist, so you need to just stand at home, count down to your self and practice bringing your gun up and steady. If they dont have that rule you can keep the gun on your shoulder, with your waist turned so your barrel is on the dead box. Then you just need to turn your upper body and get the gun steady.

ah. I realyl dont' know wht kind of players I'll facing but those are all something I'll work on. especially since I'm dropping my spyder(which I'm ver comfortable with) and picking up a b2k4 (which is very new to me). first thing I'm gonan do is get used ot the trigger all over agian and then I'll start working of starting off teh break and snap shooting.
