I am 13 and live in the outskirts Sacramento and I REALLY want to join a team, either a rec/tourney, rec, tourney team. I have a 2006 etek ego, vlocity hopper, 48/3000 tank, Dye pants, and Proto jersey. I really love this sport but dont have anyone to play with (I play walk on's...).............(if you would like to know anything else please ask!)
Cause your in the socal area the best thing to do is to goto some of the event/big games to check out some of the teams and maybe play with them some before you join them.
In fact the team that I play on for scenarios, "The Grey Knights", formed cause we all went to the 1st Decay of Nations down at SC village and had a blast. And we have a habit of taking advantage of just about any thing we can get our hands on. Like sticking signs on stakes that say "Danger Mine Field" and place them in the middle of a path.
some of the bigger scenario teams in the area are. The Knuckle draggers, Clown Posy, Dog Soldiers, and Solcal Ghosts to name a few. (If your under 21 don;t drink the clown juice)
I no i just cant just say "I want to join your team"....how can i have a team see me play? please help =]
Get out and play. If your good enough they will spot you. Also don't expect a team to be out in their tournament gear they might be out and look like any other player out there.
Some teams work as refs to be able to get some low cost practice time on the fields os if your there often enough they might spot ya.

mow yards, etc etc. At age 13 I has several lawns I mowed throughout the week by dumb luck. I was pulling around $90 a week on 2 yards. Granted one of them took 3 hours and one took an hour.

I tell you what what do you think it cost you to mow your yard ? Well I tell you what I'll mow your yard for you at that same price and this way you can have more time Sir/maam to go shooping or watch some T.V or just bee with your wife or Friends.
Let tell you at your age I was hitting around 10-12 yards a week back home in J-Ville , Fla . All it takes is word of mouth a will and a way to get he job done !! Borrow your parents mower and weedeater. Buy a push broom . Wala you are set ! Got a Bike you can bungee this all down on the bike and drag it to the yards for starters!
Another good lil pointer is to make some lil fliers for yourself man .
