step A) be really really freaking good at paintball and spend all the money you have saved up for a car on gear

step B) enter tournies and hopefully be picked up by a sponcer

step c) play paintball with whatever your sponcer gives you, even if you dont like the equipment

step D) and only if your super good, play paintball untill it is nolonger fun, a day at the office is a day on the field and you nolonger have a say in what equipment you are shooting, every desision you make except for which bunker to go to and who to shoot at has now been taken from you. you nolonger play paintball for yourself but rather for your sponcer

I dont agree with Trbo. You want a sponser so you can both benefit, not so you lose the fun of the game. Some sponsors are easy to get such as Redz, but they just give you a discount and wont provide paint or pay for entry for tournaments. To get those type of sponsors you're gonna have prove your worth it first. For now I would just say dont worry about going after a sponsor so much as just going out to win tournaments on your own. Once you've established yourself as a winning team sponsors will be more willing to work with you. If you can make them look good and get well known then they will help you out. Until then I suggest just going out and playing.

Edit: also as far as information needed, most companies have an application form you need to fill out, asking things such as, Team name, player names, current set-ups, and then questions like why you want to be sponsored by them ect. I bet you can even google some to get an idea of what to expect.

The sponsors rarely benefit. I've mentioned this before (on this forum I think...) that I can have the post office put a flyer in every mailbox in this town for less than $2000. How does giving money to a paintball team get me better exposure for my advertising dollar than that? By the same token for $500 I can have the local radio station run a small ad for my business for a month. Paintball players really overestimate the value that their sponsors get by sponsoring a team and this is why only the really high profile teams get the good deals and almost nobody gets a free ride. Getting a local shop discount or dealer pricing on a large order of markers for your team isn't that great a deal.
