yea i dont live near all these big tournys with big sponsors either. my team doesnt have any sponsors yet [hopefully]
u dont need big name sponsors, u could get like a local store to sponsor you if they want to, maybe a field, or maybe some store that doesnt even have to do with paintball will let you thats what my friend had

i live in a small town in waukesha wisconsin and are sponsered by a place in milwaukee..it doesnt matter where u live..just call in or mail them a letter and mabeye give some photos or videos and many places will be glad to sponser u..and no..we arnt talking about sponserships like dynasty and other pro teams. They get everything free...the local sponsers will mostly just give u major discounts..and mabeye a free shirt or jersey

Yeah a lot of people think that you have to get sponsered by a company within the Paintball community.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Sometimes places like a Car dealership or a Local restaurant would be more than happy to sponser teams as soon as they know how big the Paintball community is, and More importantly how it will Benefit them.
As soon as they know what you can do for them, then you can begin to discuss what they can do for you.
But remember don't expect a lot of money at first expect little things.

I suppose non-paintball related sponsors(diners, etc) would just your team cash straight up then?
What would be the best way to approuch a non-paintball related sponsor? Just mail them out of the blue or what?

I would Talk to at least a manager in person if not an owner. Make sure you have some sort of team resume. and explain to them how you would be advertising for thier business everywhere you play.
for Example: my team is sponsered by a Local Car dealership and they help us out temendously with paint and entry costs.
In turn we wear jerseys that have the Name of the Dealership on the front and back advertising for them. and it gives them even more exposure when we make it to the finals.
But remember Make sure you cover what you can do for them before you talk to them about what they can do for you.

Heres what i love, teams that are just made looking for sponsors to give em money, or anything......u first look for any pb company that wants to give u a team discount, and guess what, when u start winning u tell em, win a lil and u start to get noticed, then u say to the company, very simply, "are u in or out?" When u ask for a sponsorship, u are at their feet pleading, and when u ask them, u have the deal, not them. Once u have a company that talks to u abotu sponsorship u knwo that u have the upper hand.
Personaly i ahve email and written letters to 100plus companys, pb and non related. Out of that i got 25 responces, and 3-5 offers, of which 2 were taken. Both are just discounts and a few free things......but when my team gets goin, and these few companies take notice, u have 2 things, i asked u when we started, u said no, and then u can talk to them and make a deal, but remember to do it right, and to talk to them in person, or in a formal letter or email.........i did a lil work, and emailed a bunch of companys, with the yo i have a team getting started and we want a sponosr and a business type letter. I actually got almost all responces from the business, and 1 offer i took from the yo thing, which ended up to be a empire sponsorship, which started nps sponsorships, i can say i was the first person to talk to emprie about beginner type sponsorship, kool eh

I doubt you're going to get sponsored by Kingman without any experience.

All companies are good for asking, there is not a sponsor that isn't any good at all, you get something from everyone, but they et sometihng from you also.

Yes, you can still get some food or drinks with them. So that's always good too.

ok children lets all calm down and take a breath. As for sponsorship, me and my crew started hanging out at our local paintball shop. We have since become friends with the owner, and a couple weeks ago we told him we were going to a local tourney in the spring, and asked if he could help us out. He is going to give us full proto gear for a REALLY great discount and he told us if our whole team buys our gear at the same time he will give all of us two free Dye T-shirts each. Basically: sponsorship is not always your answer for your team's budget sometimes just getting a great deal for your stuff is good enough. This guy has been giving our team TONS of really nice deals.
Last week I told him I was interested in a Karnivore he had on the wall and he told me he could give me 10% off. My advice for teams in need of support, there are other ways to get the gear you need. Peace.
Anyways I guess I should do him a favor for helping us out: millenium paintball in layton UT.
