5 man position

ok we have 5 guys and have only played 1 tourney before and we got 12/16. i was wondering what u think our setup should be..i.e who should be front, back mid..how many back/front/mid...u get the drift.

Here is my team

Me- pimped vision impulse- 6'3, 210 lbs...runs 5.5 in 40 yrd dash
strength-shooting speed
weakness- moving

Matt- pimped VF autococker- 5'10 215 lbs.......runs about a 6 in 40 yrd dash
strength- moving (surprisingly)
weakness- shooting speed

Eric- pimped spyder E-99- 5'11 200 lbs...runs 5.4 in 40 yrd dash
strength- snap shooting
weakness- shooting speed

Drew- pimped spyder fenix- 6'0 150 lbs..runs 5.0 in 40 yrd dash
strength- speed
weakness- keeping extremeties tucked in

Tyler- lasoya intimidator- 5'6-130 lbs..runs 5.0 in 40 yrd dash
strength- speed and snap shooting
weakness- staying posted

it really depends on what you wanna play. Aggresive (fun but can be dangerous) or defensive. I would say set up both game plans. Aggresive you should have one back man (fastest shooter and have him shower paint on anything that moves). Have your two fastest guys run up on the break and get up as far as possible. Then have you last two guys get a good bunker either in the corners or near the 50. Defensive is pretty selfexplanitory. Just keep everything back and wait for the other team to do something stupid and when they do, jump on em! Good luck

the guns and what not dont define the players position. it all depends just on what their skills are in. a good paintball player should be good at everything (fast, snapping, laning, moving, etc).... just ask them what they perfer playing mostly and what pos. they play best in. then work around and find the right setup for your team... if you need to, experiment at practices and stuff, have people play in positions they dont usually play, you may find some untapped talent

Here is what i've conjured up...

>Back - You & Drew (shooting speeds, and the mobility isn't as much of an issue as it is for a front/mid.)

>Front - Tyler & Matt (snapping, and you need someone who can move. Also front, i dont think, needs a whole lot of fast bps.)

>Middle - Eric (you need a little of both, so the snapping and speed is a good shot.)

Good luck, and i hope this helped pal -Angiol

Go to your local field and see what works out better for you. Some people cant play front because they always get tunnelvision so your just gonna have to try out all spots and see which works for your team

ya, thanks, none of us really get tunnel vision, and responding to the moderators comment, gun does matter when it comes to rate of fire.

We also dont really play together all that much and everyone really seems to like front. Just based on the info, what would you do.

what is an important trait of a backman...to lane and create cover fire for the front, right. It is much easier to do that with a fast gun that doesnt chop balls, correct?

U need backs that are aware of everything happening, and can communicate it to ur other members easily. (Articles on how to improve your game great info on how to setup teams, etc along w/ good tutorials on how to prefect crucial skills)

It all depends on the field. Get to the tourney or field early so you can walk the field, find the angles, and figure out how you want to set up. One set up may not work on another field, so you have to be flexible.

Well, these arnt our actual times..i estimated, but i dont think anyone beats 4.9...plus, we arnt the most athletic team u have ever seen. but as individuals we do pretty well, our only weakness is playing as a team. And the rookie tourney we played in had so much sandbagging, plus, none of us has been playing speedball longer than a couple months..We used to play woods all the time.

By the way, i have never seen a 6'3 guy run a 4.8..that just means u are hella fast, i think the fastest guy in our whole school runs a 4'6, and he owns everyone.. The fastest football player runs a 4'7...that doesnt mean , i consider us having average speed for NON ATHLETES, mabeye even slightly above.
