have heard of pantera??? they're certainly not some underground band.

far beyond driven is not close to screamo.

individual songs?

they are not a ripoff band.

this thread is wrong in so so many ways.

Have you ever listened to Exhorder? Pantera stole everything they have straight from Exhorder.

Perhaps you should have been more explicit in your original post. I see nothing of "Only post good things about Pantera. I don't want to hear your opinion" (which itself is contradictory). All you say is "how many people heard of pantera," with a period instead of a question mark. Clearly more than a few of us have.

Have you heard any of their material from 1981 up to Cowboys From Hell? Back then they were a cheesy glam-wannabe "metal" band, and nobody disputes that fact, including the band members themselves. Cowboybs From Hell came out in 1990, and by that time Exhorder had already released material that had their future sound... not glam-rock BS. Is it unthinkable to fathom that Pantera might have heard this material?

My opinion of Pantera: They have some (aesthetically) good, catchy songs and there are lots of good riffs and solos scattered througout. Overall, though, they remain basically garbage, actually being kind of the pinnacle of what "real metal" shouldn't be.

I don't much feel like explaining, but if you beg me hard enough I might.

It's a forum. Negative and positive reviews of whatever you post will come your way. If you aren't enough of a big boy to handle that then you need to click the red x in the top corner and have your mommy walk you to Dairy Queen to soothe your ego with a Blizzard.

Pantera is a blatant ripoff. If you can't understand that then you are deaf, dumb, and stupid. As Tony said, the EARLY Pantera was actually glam metal - just like all the other worthless drivel coming off the Sunset strip.

YouTube - PanterA Glam Days introductions by band members!
YouTube - Pantera 'All Over Tonight'

Now pull your head out of your ass before you get lost in there.

All of the rock groups that sound EXACTLY like the Beatles, yeah I'll consider them Beatles rip offs.

totally different argument.

I mean, they aren't bad. IMO nothing special in terms of metal but they do have some ok stuff. I don't know why they get the recognition they do though.

pantera is sick. if you don't like vulgar display of power you are a knob. possibly the heaviest album ever, possibly only trumped by crowbar s/t, or some of the early integrity ****.

You compare some thrash to some early metalcore (Integrity) and some sludge/doom (Crowbar)? That makes no sense. VDoP is nowhere near the heaviest album of all time.
