Cutting barrel down

I'm going to cut my 21inch barrel down to a 13-15 inch... I have seen ppl do it before i was wondering if there is any cons or anything... i wont need to rethread it. I would tho if i wanted to keep my muzzle brake but dont, so im open to any opinions

Option 1 : Find a machinist to cut and thread the barrel
Pros : Work is done professionally and will look good when finished
Con : Expensive

Option 2 : Use a hack saw and cut the barrel to length.
Pros : Cheap and quick
con : Can damage the barrel and does not look that good when done

Option 3 : Buy a new barrel in the length that you want
Pro : you keep your old barrel
cons : none that I see

if you hack it down from the front you will loose all the poprting, resulting in a very loud marker

id say go get a $30 J&J, it will be quieter and lighter than what your planning on doing
