Why not get a better gun like a spyder? Do any companies make barrels that will even fit those guns?

All Brass Eagle, JT, VL, and Spyder, Piranha, pretty much ALL lower end guns use Spyder Threads, the only exception is tippmann. (I think). But the rest use Spyder Threads, it's just like higher end guns. Matrix's, Autocockers, Timmy's use Autococker threads, the only exception is Angels.

Tippmann 98 custom

Get a Tippy 98 custom even though the stock is small its alot better than crap guns u can buy at K-mart and when u get that get a Progressive or Teardrop Barrel or a J&J Ceramic J&J ceramic 14inch is wat i got and it is great silent and even if a ball busts inside the barrel if u shoot off a couple rounds the barrel will clean itself so u dont have to get a squegee out and then get bunkerd or somethin gay like that Go W/ The J&J Ceramic it Rules
By the way the only good things ViewLoader makes is pretty much its hoppers except the Quantum loader it is major crap

If you're looking for an easily upgradable backup with the price of a viewloader, why not go with a BlackMaxx? Crappy marker, yes, but it's just as good, or better than, a viewloader. AND it accepts piranha barrels. It does sound like you're pinching some pennies here, so that wouldn't be the worst way to go.

If you can afford it, though, do go with a more expensive marker. The 98 Custom is a little on the upper low end range, but if you're looking for reliability, that's your marker. And it's not even half bad, at that.

tippmann 98 custom sucks. it shoots way to low. i wouldnt waste my money on that. the barrel upgrade is too expensive. my silver bullet is much more accurate and will even be better with a new barrel. besides those guns that have been mentioned is there another marker that would make a good back-up?? what about a Kingman AMG??? thanks for the help so far.

"the" barrel upgrade? You're not limited to Tippman's sniper barrel. Most cheap barrels (seems to be what you're in the market for) are sold with 98 Custom barrel threads also. You might look into those.

As for it shooting too 'low,' I can only assume you're talking about the stock barrel, as the velocity is easily adjusted to over 300 FPS. Again, though. Easily remedied.

well said. And yes, tippmann has some different threads, but all the others are spyder-threaded.
