Tried the Proto Reflex

So I finally got my hands on a Reflex not sure what year but I think it was a 2011. It was kinda disappointing, I hate to say it but it was ):. I mean I use the excuse of using old paint but I played with it for about 3 hours. I chopped paint. Also shooting it honestly felt the same as my fenix. I mean there's a couple differences from the 2011's to the 12s and 13s right?

I then decided to try and test the old paint on my fenix and see how that held up well when I did as soon as I screwed my tank in it started to leak so no luck even though I replaced the O-ring last week and worked perfectly fine, kinda upset about that.

What do you guys think?

The only things that were changed from 2011 to 2012 in the PRR were:

ASA. Went from Proto on/off to NT Style Dye airport on/off.
Trigger. Went to the Ironman blade trigger from the reach.
Anno's available.

Personally, I've said all along the Reflex isn't worth the price tag. Better to get a Proto Rail and put an on/off, clamping neck, and Critical trigger on it. Cheaper than the PRR and just as nice.

Yeah I want a Proton but my shop doesn't sell them but if I would have bought the Reflex I get a membership which is valued at 250 plus free service on gun and all the bells and whistles but now I guess I just need to do the math on what comes out better.

so really the only problem i see was you are breaking paint. not the markers fault. old/bad paint for sure

that aside, I agree with miller, PRR is the same base design as the rail, get a rail, throw some goodies on it and save some cash

what exactly does a "membership" get you though? and is it only available on certain markers?

support your local shop/field for sure. If they don't get your business, they won't be able to stay open.

thats not a bad deal to be honest.

I would consider it but only if you know you can play enough in the first year to make that worth it. The free admission for a year is great. If you only play 5 times its actually probably paying for itself when you consider admission ($10 on the cheap side) $10 off each case of paint, if you are like me and buy a case each time you go that is simple and then take the cost of upgrading the feedneck, asa and trigger off of upgrading a PR, you will break about even comes close to $200 the way i see it which is roughly the difference between the PR and PRR anyway

Yeah I live like 10 minutes last year I went over 20 times for sure I plan on going more this year. I go Saturdays and Sundays and sometimes went Thur-Sun. A case will last me a weekend or 2 days. The membership doesn't come with the PR just PRR and Axe I know for sure but I know for sure not the PR. But then I am not sure how long I will be living in this state I know until June for sure, a 3 month member ship is 105. So I have been doing math on buying a gun there or buying a gun online plus a 3M membership. But IDK I will most likely buy a gun at my shop I have plenty of time to debate this with myself.

although i would only shoot them if mandated, i'd say take the axe over the rail. there's nothing wrong with the axe, it just doesn't fit in my hands properly

makes sense to get the PRR then if i am reading this right

PR ($300ish)
Membership ($105)
feedneck/trigger/asa for rail (roughly $100)

$505

PRR

I guess I am assuming $500ish since that is the normal price but you are also getting $10 off a case of paint and if you play as much as you say you do it is going to be cheaper to go with the PRR

i would take a PR over an axe, not a fan of the mini/axe at all. that aside they are decent shooters

Also keep in mind the 105 membership is for 3 months as when I buy a gun its a year.

I did maintenance on the Fenix today & decided how well it would do with the bad paint and WOW I have never chopped paint so bad. Recorded a video as well. My shop doesn't open until Wed, but I can't go in until Thursday I will have to ask what else they have besides the PRR and Axe with membership. I kinda like the DM12's but I am not ready for a high end marker -____-.

Also planning on buying a carbon fiber 68/4500 tank after the gun then a dye rotor hopper, these two perks would be fit for any gun

well go for the tank and hopper before the marker. if you are still using CO2 there is no point in getting a different marker. HPA and a rotor will work on the fenix, CO2 will not work on the PRR or axe or anything else in the mid range so even though you will have it, you will not be able to use it

Technically, it'll work on it just fine. YOu're just risking the solenoid getting destroyed. It SHOULDN'T be used on it, that's quite different from won't.

I'm pretty sure you're barrel breaking, not chopping.

I only used CO2 the first 2 or 3 times I used the fenix then switched to HPA, and I plan on getting the tank and hopper no more than 2 weeks after I buy a marker itll give me time to get to know the gun.

Huck duck your right ment barrel breaking my bad

Well i understand its too late to voice my opinions. I can not stand any dye with a ultralite frame. There is just so much play in the trigger i want my trigger where i can tap it with a feather and it shoots. The dye triggers and me just do not get along. I owned a 07 rail and a few dms and my matrix which i still have, i have played with every dm thats been made and i hate how much play is in the trigger of such a nice gun. The 2013 dm is great but i just cant stand the trigger.

Tap with a feather and it shoots eh? I know you can move the trigger anywhere but that clearly isnt your problem, would switching out triggers do anything for you or would that be internally as well? I myself am not picky on triggers or maybe I just have not tried a marker that would have a perfect trigger set up.
