companies spend millions of dollars on advertisements each year....

And signing up for the forum is free...

Saving some money, I saw an advertisement on here earlier today, and I was looking at the I-Pod prices... I wish they weren't scams, I'd really like a video I-pod

is there a verification code when you sign up? that usually prevents alot of it.

theres probably a way to prevent it.

how bout we give this place a country club format? To become a new member, you have to have a current member as a referal. Then if the new member spams, then the referal goes down with him. and of course those of us with like over 15 posts are grandfathered in.

sound good?

like, u can join and become a member, but you are unable to post anything until you can get that referal. SO if someone is trying to become a new member for a legit reason, and they dont know anyone, they can pm members with common interests and talk to them about paintball and lounge stuff, and after like a week of chatting they can earn a referal.

a spammer isnt gonna spend 7 days here to get a referal from a member if he can go to 100,000 other forums and just go spam instantly

just an idea, thought id throw that out there

:edit w00t w00t 700 posts

it seems as if since the content links have disappeared, spammer accounts have been popping up like crazy... maybe it's just me?

I will look into the mass spamming. forums typically go through a phase of mass spamming where once a spammer sees that they can get away with there post staying up for a few days they will continue to do it. I will see what I can do to get it cleaned up and ban the ip's for the spammer. By reporting the post we can get rid of it faster.

Lately the spam trend is cel phones and pharmacuticals.

another flaw about the 'country-club' idea is thing is this...

i met 'brockockli' i believe and he invited me to join this forum (it was at a christian music concert thing and i had gone to a game earlier and i was still stuck in my uniform so he came up to me and asked some questions...)

what would have happened to his name if he had invited me and i was a spammer?

he would get punished for trying to be helpful... so he probably would have thought about that and never invited me - i'da never ended up on this forum at all...

so i would definately say that it would keep some people from bein' invited and some of those people could be really helpful... (not saying that that helpful, but i dont think i'm too irritating) in turn we would loose avid players in turn for spammers tricking others into letting them in...

then this place would become more of a cult with fewer members and very exclusive... then there would be no help to new players and all that we would discuss would be bias...

very creative idea - but it would create more problems than it would solve... if only it were that easy though... that'd be nice, eh?
