The mods never give out rep points...

I've sen multiple posts by users that were very helpful to some people but yet the poster doesn't receive any rep. points. I really don't care but some people deserve the recognition. i thought the whole purpose of this sytem was to see who actually helped people out and posted good posts. I'm not asking the mods to look at every post and then pick out all the good posts, but could they keep up with the good posts?

People will end up getting the report buttons mixed up and start reporting crappy posts.

Supporters need to be able to give rep points.

i agree with barber, supporters need to be able to give rep points as well, because there is even more of them and they will see more posts then. they obviously can be trusted since they r supporters, if they mess around with the rep system then they can just get a warning and rep privlidges taken away

Well perhaps not to report good posts but to report good ppl.

The reputation point could (should) be used as a "quality" benchmark. That means if U get advice from someojne w No Rep point and someone w 10+ Rep points U should concider both but maybe give the 10+ guy some more cred for knowing what he is talking about.

That meand ppl like the "Bubbas" jr. & Sr. deserves rep points. Misfit as well KingFiki and a few others that always tries to balance their advice. Just to give out Rep points on the basis of "stickys" or "good posts" gives the false incentives. Since when that is the way it is done the guy with the most sticky will have the highest rep regardless of where he has stolen the contents. More thought behind rep point pls.

I agree with Frallan. I think mod's and higher people should only give it out, so when someone gets a rep point they appreciate it more. If supporters were able to, then everyone would get them all the time.

I agree witht he title, the mods are here to see that everything is running right, yet they dont reward the people with good posts, I think in my honest opinion that if your gonna be a mod you have to read every post throughly and reward the people that deserve them. Myself and others have helped but we have not been congratulated yet.
1 ? Can you mods give themselves points?? IMO mods are giving other mods points.

I like the system.

In the short-term, its not very accurate. But in the LONG-TERM, it will be very meaningfull. By long-term, I mean MONTHS not days.

People are so obsessed with boosting there post counts. I think the REP system will work great, and people will use that instead of the post-counts... and fortunetly... there is no easy way to boost them artificially.

The reputation system wasn't designed to be an "instant" gratification system. It takes months to increase rep points.
