What is a Halo?

Might seem like a silly question but until recently I thought it was a brand. Now I see Odyssey Halo B, Invert Halos Too and Halos themselves. So Im going to assume Halo is a technology? (please let me know if Im mistaken)

Ive seen shell kits that just say Halo, are these brand specific or any hopper using this technology? are all halo shells compatible? For example, can a Halo Too use a shell that is listed as "HALO or Reloader B Shell Kit"... what about rip drives, drive cones and covers?

Maybe a better question would be, whats the difference between these models?

yes, i believe that all the shells are compatible, but i could be wrong. The halo too shells are definitely better, though.

I can confirm that Halo B guts fit in a Halo Too flawlessly, inclusive of the 6 battery power block.

From what I've picked apart for compatibility -

Halo is..largely.. the navy blue piece that force feeds the balls into the breech. The positioning and electronics are what separate A from B from C.

Halo B's have eyes
Too's have ears
and I believe Reloaders have ears as well.

This means that B electronics include a break-beam sensor to feed balls when there aren't balls breaking the beam.

Too's ears activate the paddle every time it hears your marker fire.

I believe Reloaders would work the same as a Too.

Differences -

Obvious one is Eyes vs. Ears, and the stickers/decals on the hoppers. Selection there would be largely based on preference - to state mine.. My gun has eyes, and ears don't get dirty-

Beyond that, the B uses a whopping 6 AA batteries. The Too uses 4. I don't own or have first hand experience with the Reloader.

The Rip drive looks to fit in any/all of said hoppers, as the mechanical guts (navy blue piece) is consistent among them. Note: I bought a Rip.. I installed the Rip. Its been 3 months, and I haven't used the Rip.

I miss anything?

yes. ReloaderB = HaloB with ears.
ReloaderB2 = HaloB v35 with ears.

Halo Too ~ ReloaderB2 w/ shell made of more durable material.

ears

First, thanks everyone for not flaming me (I was expecting it).

In regards to ears... what happens if the ears are activated by something other than the gun firing? Does the paint break or get jammed?

I learned really quick that this isn't PBN. Largely, its a collective of people with a couple years to a decade of experience per knowledgeable person.

Flaming, while it does happen, is far far far less frequent.

As far as what happens when the loader tries to feed when it shouldn't be able to - I "believe" it feels the back-pressure and quits. My Halo Too and B have both played in a scenario game, along with a couple hundred airball skirmishes, 1-2 woodsball games, and a few CQB games. The only time I've had an issue with breaking paint was when I was using cheap crap scenario paint. Then again, shake&shoot T98's were having issues with the paint as well.

I'm also from Illinois, relatively close to Joliet... where is your home field? CPX?
