sight rail problems....

first, check out these pics.

the first picture shows this sight rail i'm tryin to put on my compact 2000. however, i'm having some difficulty doing that.

The second and third picture shows how the stock sight rail and back cap goes into my gun. If you will notice, the screw that holds down the sight rail screws into the back cap.

I'm trying to put an acs bolt on my gun. My gun will be transfered from side to rear cocking, and the back cap will be obsolete, however... I have NO way to hold down that new sight rail!!! GRRR... I can't use the screw and the cap anymore, because obviously it's gonna be blocking the cocking rod... does anyone have any suggestions on how to hold this sight rail down WITHOUT the cap?

PS: While i'm here, i might as well. Does anyone know how to paint that chrome sight rail black to match the rest of my gun? i hear annodizing is the best way, but I have no clue how to do that.

I would drill/tap the sight rail and body and screw it on. Or, if you dont mind it being permanent, JB Weld or glue it on or something..

he'd have to drill a new hole in the rail. B/c the cap is where the current hole lines up w/, and it can't be used.

actually, the holes line up perfectly... and what maxx said is right --> i'm opting out to tap/thread the hole on the body and use a screw of the appropriate size...

thanks!

well hmm... lets see... ultimately i wanted to put a red dot sight on this sight rail... but all of these red dot sights i'm encountering are designed for weaver rails... which i think are wider than spyder sight rails...

anyone have any experience with this? perhaps airsoft players? would a red dot scope designed for a weaver rail fit my rail?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...133657001&rd=1

that should give you an idea of what i want... not the single lens sight

I think sights are kinda pointless in PB. Most balls never go where you aim. They go side to side and up and down and all sorts of crap. Unless you have a sweet barrel like a 16 inch boomstick or a flatline. I recommend that flatline...its sweet.

hmmm.. well... #1, its not that i want the accuracy of a sight... i just the feel of having one on my marker (i'm into realism and ish...) #2... mission accomplished, i mounted this sucker beautifully, without spending any cash :-P I found a tapping tool that matched the hex screws that come with spyders perfectly in my dad's old tool box... and i used the screw from my mechanical trigger frame to get that sucker on. PERFECT LENGTH... no interference with the bolt at all.

now if only i can fix this leak. lol... does anyone know where i can get mass quantities of o-rings? i think i need to replace all of em... for some reason i gas up my marker... (turn the etrigger off of course for safety..) and i hear some gas seeping through somewhere... and it seems the gas is escaping through the barrel hole. i was kinda confused what could be causing a leak through THAT hole... is this normal?

either way. i need to replace those rings... anyone know good online shops?

Cool...glad you got it done. Me though im going to stick with my technique of aim in general direction and pull trigger on full auto.

Ummm...lol actually I sold both my boomsticks today...one of them busted and only the back was good and the other I never used so I sold both and bought a new Whisper barrel. Sorry man...I gotta update that. Bought a new proteus mask too. I have the sports comm system for it but the speaker part doesnt seem to work with my Cobra 2 way radio. Oh well. Getting new Venturi bolt this weekend...thats gonna be nice.
