Stupid Question

Well I just got my Imagine 2k5 in the other day and the auto is a bit below what I expected. Since I already got a Halo hopper I'd like to just keep it on single shot and walk or fan it for when I need fast fire, but I'm really not very good at walking it right now and we all know how accurate fanning is.
They always tell people during the safety speech at the field that dry-firing damages the rental guns. I can't possibly conceive of any way dry-firing could damage a non-electric gun, ever. But if I wanted to practice walking my gun without using CO2 or paint, would it cause any damage?
I think I know the answer, just wanted to be sure though

Nope, from what i've seen just turning the gun on and walking the trigger for practice does no harm.
