Spyder Xtra

So after browsing the forums I've decided to post in hopes that I can get a solid answer. I bought a box o' paintball crap off ebay a few years back and got a couple of markers masks tanks and packs. It came with a Spyder Xtra (2003) (I think). Most of the other guns didn't work and we stripped them down and made 1 working gun out of it. However the Spyder Xtra is having some issues that was cast aside until now.

Basically, these are the issues I'm having.

It won't re-cock after firing. I'm not sure if that's an issue with the velocity adjuster (the one underneath the bolt in the back, or if there's another] one), or just it hasn't been greased in a while.
What's the flat head screw do above the trigger assembly (golden-ish one).

This marker was worked on by a friend of mine, who hoped to get it working, so I don't know if he could have done anything to keep it from working.

probably just needs some TLC in the form of a good cleaning and some paintball oil.

as for the flat head screw above the trigger assembly, you are going to have to be a little more specific as to where it is and or what its holding on and doing

o thats to hold the vale in place, its just a set screw so the valve doesnt move around inside the marker. i thought you were talking about something on the outside of the body

just for future reference thats of the bottom of the body, inbetween the body and frame. helps explain a location if you ever need to again

Oiled it well. Stryker (1 oring) and the bolt (2 orings and the end of the bolt) and it's still not recocking. After assembling it for the umpteenth time I realized there was no striker spring guide. I found one off an old Brass Eagle Raptor and threw that in there, however I'm not sure if it's the right length. However that still hasn't fixed the problem.

try screwing the velocity adjuster in more (turn to the right) I was having the same problem with my Spyder TL and that's what fixed it for me.

I tried with the velocity adjuster all the way tightened (in/to the right) and tried it with it practically falling off because it was too loose, as well as various points in between, no dice. Is there only 1 velocity adjuster (the one on the back?). I unscrewed the low pressure chamber and the o-rings are in-tact. Everything is tightly resecured. Hmmm.

I took off the strike bolt plug from my MR1 and put it onto my Xtra as well as the spring (which was 1/4" longer but obviously because of wear and tear). Still no dice, however I did notice the MR1's strike bolt plug and pin are the same length as the Xtra's set. I may try to just gut my MR1 and put it in the Xtra (and vice versa) just to see what it would do...

well there is no such thing as the "low pressure chamber" so im not sure what you took apart there. when it shoots is the paint going a normal speed or is it slow? id try replacing the striker o ring and stretchering your spring out a bit

I just tried stretching the spring out a bit. I meant to say expansion chamber, not lp. I tried my striker from my MR1 in my Xtra and that didn't do anything, and my MR1 works fine.

One sec let me shoot some paint...

"5 minutes later"

On a 6" barrel they're practically rolling out, 6 feet at best. My CO2 tanks are fine, I filled them last night. 2 CO2 tanks full and an HPA tank @ 1200 PSI tested.

I've been reading up on low pressure chambers a lot today for my MR1, which is why I mistyped :P

if they are coming out that slow its something with the valve, stryker or spring. id make sure your valve is in the right way round, (large hole facing forward)

i wouldnt use the HPA tank if its that low, you need around 750 psi minimum to fire properly and if your gauge is just a little off you could already be there. co2 tanks on the other hand will have a constant output pressure around that 750-800 mark as long as tey have co2 in them.

have you tried the spring from the MR1 yet?

I used the striker and the spring from my MR1 to no avail. I tried removing the valve (or what I think to be the valve anyway) with an eraser and hammering the tip of the pencil, but that didn't appear to do anything at all. Besides completely destroy the pencil. Would that be the only thing in the bottom ''barrel'' that would keep me from seeing one end to the other? If so then yeah I can't get my valve out o_o

ya, you need to remove the grip frame and inbetween the body and the frame is a screw that holds the valve in place, remove that and the valve should come out the front

Trbo you are the man.

Must have been something with the valve, took it off and oiled it, slid everything back into place and marker sounds much louder (as in, normal) and it recocks again.

it sounds like you have a o ring going bad, id keep a few on you when you go play just incase it starts doing it again you can replace the rings on the valve
