Minimum wage in Kansas is $2.15/hour. Minimum wage, though a federally regulated law, is decided upon by states (which makes no ****ing sense at all.)

i don't think it should. cause when min. wage goes up. that means prices for things will go up b/c companys are spending more $$ for wages and are loosing profit. So to gain their profit, they need to raise their prices. So raising min. wage won't do much

i agree not to mention how small companies will be forced out of country to be able to afford labor.

also, it would make it more difficult for a lower skilled workers to get a job because companies would only hire the best workers.

Well if consumers have more money, they can afford more expensive things. If things work out they way they want them to, that means increased standard of living.

However, they might not increase wages for all the other workers.

they wont be able to afford more expensive things because inflation will make things rise much more rapidly than we are used too.. what costs $4 now will cost $6 after the increase

Good point. So then I guess it won't change anything. Even though they will be making more money, things will be more expensive.

You may be getting more money, but the value of your dollar remains the same.

I don't think raising it will work. I think what people need is more at home labor, but i'm not out-spoken against overseas labor either. Balance matters more to me. Anyway.

We could also cut government spending. Just analyze your taxes and what they are for, and you'll see how bogus some are. After that, all you can do is take action. Never give up, quitters!

They just raised it here to $6.

It's a pointless cycle. Back when my dad was a kid, they had a huge issue over whether to raise it to like $1.75 or something. Hey look, 40+ years later and we're still debating the same thing.

You'd think they'd understand that it doesn't do anything, really.
At least nothing long term.

exactly all this money put forward toward the war and other things in our country could easily be put back into the pockets of the people and into the people on the threshold of poverty

If it's raised to what they say it will be raised to, then inflation will kick in and people will want it raised again.

Conner(Dark),
the cost of living each year rises on average 2.5-4% each year

in a conversation we had earlier, you claimed the cost of living would rise just as much or more than the increase of minimum wage to 7.25 then that's an over 40% increase that's VERY unlikely.

ugh. Don't make me discuss giving money away. The government should invest it into worth while things. Throwing money at a problem doesn't work. Revert to the pope thread on that one.

What i'm saying is the less you pay in taxes, the less you pay for an item. So you can afford excess, or not, but it'd be nice to have some extra ching when the gas prices go up.

And then people will become reliant on the government for free handouts. Don't pull that bull****, that's a worthless liberal solution to the idea. It's like drugs - people will get addicted to the free money and keep on coming back for more. The people with money at the top worked to get there, leave them alone.
