my mother must look at EVERY webpage. So when i'm like helping her search (is it just me or do most ppl really suck at google?) and i just want to click 1 link b/c i know the entire page is complete ****, she makes me STOP and then reads most of the page. God i hate that.

Oh, my dad busted the cd drive on the dell when it wouldn't read a disk. He slammed it hard and knocked it off the track so now it comes out weird and makes a click click click noise. Oh yeah, that's sweet.

my dad doesn't even know i have to take my gun apart to clean it. He has never used the computer, he can barely use the dish and only knows about cars. My mom is getting better...slowly. She can type like 15 words per minute now.

I have grown up around computers, literally. My dad was the director of academic computing for the entire Univieristy of WIsconsin system, and he would bring home computers for us to "try-out." From the TRS-80, Commodore 64, the Atari's, Aplle IIe's, and the $5000 IBM 80/88 machines. From the time I was 12 (ages ago) I have been playing on computers.

I college I learned BASIC, PASCAL, COBOL, and FORTRAN. I wrote programs that used 1500 punch cards, and can remember standing in line to get onto a HP PDP-11 machine to check my grades (and that was HI-TECH!!). Now they are basically dead languages with the advent of linux, and such.

Now there is a PC or MAC in every house, my kids can't do thier homework without a computer, and I spend much too much free time chatting, posting, and surfing.

However, I have been able to pull up information on basically any topic I can think of in milliseconds. There are more products and services on the internet then I can even name, and I can communicate instantly around the world at the push of a button.

But all that doesn't mean that I have the first clue at HTML, or Java, or any of the web based applications out there at all..

So, to all you whippersnappers out there, I DARE you to type your 120 page research paper, with annotated bibblyography and footnotes, on an IBM Stelletric machine! That will show you!

my grandpa took 2 months to figure out how to call someone on his cell phone, and he still turns his phone off when he's not calling someone because he thinks it uses minutes to be on...

my dad's a great person that I go to for help with computer.s my mom's learning, but it's a very slow process. She can basicalyl do everything she wants too do and she's happy with that. but if i move the icon or something she cant find it, it's fun to watch.
