Rules for posting in the lounge

I had you there for a minute didn't I? Instead I'll ***** about why my life sucks worse than everybody else's

Had you again. Too easy.

The actual point of this thread is to compare bodily injuries. I have suffered quite in my time, and I'm almost ready to begin physio from my most recent. So lets hear your horror stories of past injuries.

This isn't my worst one, but 5 weeks ago I was doing gymnastics in phys ed class, (I'm going to be a gym teacher). I attempted a forward handspring off of a tramp(bopoline) and a pommel horse, but I didn't have enough momentum, I landed on the edge of the mat, with my toes on the mat and my heels hitting the floor about 6 inches below.

Basically my tibia slipped off the back of my talus, the bone it rests on in the ankle, which is essentially a dislocated ankle. I tore my para-achilles tendon and my hamstring, and I strained the joint capsule in my ankle and knee.

I get off crutches within the next week and I should be able to play soccer, volleyball and paintball by mid-July. Here's to hoping. Cheers to injuries, lets hear yours.

in soccer game my Jr year I was shooting and a defender kicked the ball in the opposite direction and teh exact same time...guess whose knee gave out? that's right, mine. I didn't hurt it as bad as everybody though, it was just very very painful for 2 or 3 weeks and I couldn't play most of the season.

well in 7th grade we were doing "fitness week" and our dike teacher was making us do really strenuous lunges(sp) and a lot of them, and i pulled something in my left testicle ( yes my left nut) and it got really big...about twice the size of my other one... turns out there was like blood in it and i had to go get an ultrasound( yes like a baby ultrasound) on my left nut by this fat black lady while my rents were in the room... it sucked ass. Most embarrasing period of my life... it was a lot of pain and to stop the swelling and fix it i had to lay on a couch for about a week and TRY to hold an icey bag on it....
thats about my only sports related injury

Mines kinda like yours, in the 5th grade I was messing around in gym, we where doing gymnastics irronicly, anyway, I was running around and tripped over a mat, plummiting myself into the wall head first, my head bent down and I smashed the back of my neck onto the wall. I fell right to the ground, and for a few minutes I could not move, it was by far the scariest thing that has ever happend to me. I cracked 2 of my vertibra, comming mm close to severing my spinal cord. I was in the hospital for 2 days, and had to wear a neck brace for a month.

I was 7, at a freinds house. His normally freindly dog decided not to be so freindly. It latched onto my face, blood was pouring everywhere. My lip ended up dangling my a small peice of left over flesh. I had a large gash in the side of my cheek that was almost all the way through. Then it bit my arm.

I spent the night at the hospital, got my lip reattached. Mind you this was all in Indonesia, i got lucky there was a decent doctor there. 64 stiches later, half my mouth is bandaged over, so is the side of my face and arm. Luckily i didnt get too badly scarred, it's only really noticable with the light coming at the right angle or if you look closely.

the worst injury ive ever gotten is probably a broken rib, or some bruised bones by being hit by a car...

I did, however, fall off of a jetski going 60+ mph.. i didnt get any injuries surprsingly.. just thought id add that little story

Well, I've had stitches 9 times. Only memorable one was when my bikes brake handle decided to puncture my thigh and go in about 4 inches. Yeah, it kind of hurt, the doctor put 2 fingers in it all the way up to her knuckles and was just swooshing around to make sure I didnt tear an artery which was only a few millimeters away from where It went in.

Then one time I was riding a big huge street bike in a field right after it rained because I'm stupid. Took a sharp turn and layed it down on my leg and the muffler started to burn a hole in my calf. The bike weighed over 300 pounds and I was only 13 so I could push it off, so I had to lay there while my leg was being scorched. Finally my cousin got to me and helped me get my leg out from under it. Had a severe 2nd degree burn about the size of a baseball on the back of me leg. Looked nasty.

And both of my big toes have been broken multiple times but I cant get them healed because I play soccer year round. They dont bother me unless I stubb my toe.

I got a paper cut yesterday too.

ack, those are the worst. They sting like hell too. If you get it on the tip of your finger it sucks because when you eat salty foods salt gets in it and it hurts.

6 fingers in 2 yrs playing basketball, some more than once. Both big toes have been broken numerous times. my arm has been twisted and sprang a few times. I've got a bad knee that likes to give out at the least opportune times. I think that covers the big stuff. Oh wait, I had to get stitches over my eye once, too.

put scisors to the bone of my finger. in 4th grade some girl pushed me on a slippery rock and i ended up putting my teeth through my lip. i was cutting a bagel and i was using a new knife and didn't know how sharp it was. i went through the bagel and half way through my palm in one stroke...

i am unlucky so i have a few. don't know what age but some guy just edged his lawn (and makes the gap aboue 2 or so inches) and i was riding my bike and my front wheel got stuck in the gap and i fell. (it was an old bike my brother gave me and it was kinda crappy) i fell and the bike somehow punctured my leg about 1 1/2 inches in my upper thigh about 1/2 in away from my femmeral (sp?).

another time i was running on a basketbal court and running towards a teammate with the ball and as i start to jump ( because he threw a high pass) he gets very close. i have to spot abruptly with only 1 foot on the ground and end up tearing a muscle off the bone and taking a peice of the bone off with it. i didn't know this happened and my foot hurt for about 3 or 4 months and then i went to see a docter. i still ran and sprinted as best as i could in a nair cast.

another time i was running cross country and for some reason i was getting really bad "cramps" (you'll see why i quoted that later on). all the coaches said just run though it. for about 3 or 4 weeks they kept saying this, and by this time i was thinking it was more serious that that, so i go to get checked out. turns out i was tearing a muscle off my backbone and it was disgusing itself like a crap pain. i was also tearing the other end off a hip growth plate. (the muscle was the Psoas (pronounced so as))

not sports related but one time i was running in my house, my dog was chasing me and she tripped me by stepping on the back of my heal. (mind you she was a puppy (an i still a little child) and chewed on the side of the coffe table) i trip, fall into the corner of the table that she liked to chew, and puncture my skul somewhat. takes 2 paper towl rolls ot clean the blood and make it stop. no stiches (like most of my injuries except for the bike thing)

i just rescently got brucitis (sp?). this is when the gellish pack between you bones (to keep the bones from rubbing together) is inflamed, and hurts badly.

another non sports related "injury" was i got sick with what was thought to be mono and pnumonia (because of a false mono test, again (have had multiple ones, like 3)). turns out it was only (i use that term lightly) pnumonia. was out of school for 21(school days) missed and a week spent in the hospital.

thats all i can remember for now. i will edit if i remember anymore

Numerous concussions.

One time I was showing off to some people on my street with my bike. Well, my street is like a gentle downward slope, so that's kinda important to know. Anyways, I decided it would be wise to stand up on my seat and ride down the hill standing up. I was doin fine until a tree came outta nowhere and attacked me. I flipped off my bike and fractured my skull on the tree. Fun stuff.

I almost cut my finger off in kindergarden when I was playing with a pocket knife.

I got hit by a car once. That kinda really hurt.

and while playing soccer for my school i was running along side this guy and someone from behind me tripped me and i fell and my arm went in between the guy who was running next to me legs. Then he kept running and basically snapped my arm in half.

Ok, well not exactly sports related and not exactly an injury, lucky me Ive never had a broken bone in my entire life...but...

When I was about 14 me and my friend decided to play "MacGuyver", and tie a zipline from the top of a tall tree to the gazebo. Then, we got some cheap plastice pully from K-Mart. Then, I decided to be super-genius and glue (wood glue, mind you) two wooden hangers together to use as the grip on the pully. I ran the metal hook of the hangers through the pully, thinking yeah, two should hold me.
My friend decided it wasnt a good idea to do it after we were all done, being the smarter of the two of us, and of course, being the stubborn male show off that I was, I climbed to the top, almost 25-30 feet. I grabbed the hangars, shoved off, the hangers unbent (they are only cheap aluminum or whatever) and I fell straight down. Mind you, I weight about 140-150 at the time (yeah, too many twinkies).
Landed on the stump of a root that was sticking out of the ground on my tailbone.

I couldnt move (come to find out I was just startled to the point I couldnt move). My friend ran to the apartment and called an ambulance. I stayed overnight, went home the next day without any injuries.

As long as we are doing comprehensive lists:
Broke my right leg on two seperate occasions during the same school year
4 stitches across my left eyebrow from a hockey goalie stick
Subluxed (partially dislocated) a vertebrae
deflated my right lung and broke my ribs
broke my wrist and collar bone
subluxed cuboid bone (partially dislocated small tarsal bone in my foot)
severly broke my nose
dislocated my ankle
countless concussions
countless soft tissue injuries (sprains, muscle tears etc.) including back trauma resulting in 3 years of twice a week physical therapy and severly torn rotator cuff resulting in 1 year of twice a week physical therapy
countless broken digits (fingers and toes)
cubital tunnel syndrome (not carpal tunnel, cubital, its in your elbow not your wrist)
crutch palsy (lose sensation in your arm because you used crutches improperly)
compacted vertebral column resulting in me wearing a neckbrace for 4 weeks

Think that covers most of the more memorable ones. Probably forgetting some.

Just recently I flipped a Yamaha Warrior 350 Quad and severley broke my wrist and broke my collar bone. When it happened I couldn't move my shoulder and it was dislocated I think. I said **** it and popped it back in place, jesus did hat hurt.

Still got the stupid cast on..

7th grade I got in a fist fight with a freshmen and he ****ed my jaw up but i kicked his ass.

This year I was riding my pocket bike and I saw some really hott girls watching me so I revved up and pulled a sick wheelie, rode it for a while and the bike slipped UNDER me and I did a superman on the pavement. I had severe road rash on my legs, arms, and chest. But the pity from them was almost worth it..

Numerous goped and pocket bike crashes
Almost crashed my friends Ninja ZX-6R
Tons of stunt bike and skateboarding stuff
etc
