MP3 Players

Anybody have/use them? What you think?

Tomorrow, I'm planning on buying one. Probably a Silver 6GB IPod Mini, about $250. Maybe the 4GB at $200 though. Anybody try these? Pretty sure they are just smaller/lighter IPods that hold less songs.

I've been looking at many different kinds of MP3s, this seems good. I was concidering an IPod, Zen Micro, and more, but this one suits what I want good.

I may also be getting things like a lanyard for it, a DLO clear case, and I want those Sony Clip-On Headphones.

So what do you guys think? Any suggestions?

Spring and get a full iPod. Minis are ****ing retarded. You're so limited - while people may say "I'll never use 20/30/40GBs!" you'd be surprised. Do you really wanna be limited to just that 6, or have 20 and really never worry about filling it up?

If you don't want to spring for a full ipod get a dell. 20gigs for 220 dollars vs. i-pod mini 6gig for $240. I have one and I'm up to about 120 albums right now (I don't download music, just put my cds on it) and its only 5.5 gigs. I've still got 3/4 of the capacity to go so basically I'll probably never run out of room. Plus its aluminum cased so its really durable. I think the mini is too, but oh well. Dell.com or ebay is the only place to get them though. Also you get dell's customer support if something goes wrong.

I have a creative zen touch that I got for $200. It's 20GB and it works. Looks good too, very solid aluminum construction. The firmware on the player is identical to the Dell, but I think that it looks better on the outside.

I bought a Creative Nomad from best buy for $170. 40 GB, and the battery can be purchased for $30 at best buy, and installed by yourself with no tools. I <3 mine

I love the iPod interface, the way they group songs and make playlists. That's what makes the iPod in my opinion. Proph3t made a good point, get the 20 gb.

i agree 100%, minis have way too little capacity for their price anyway
get a 20gb for a few bucks more and you wont regret it. Normal ipods are very thin anyway, and arent that long.

the ipod is the only mp3 player to buy.

The mini is good if you are mabye a jogger, or something, but otherwise its worth the 50 for 14 more gigs.

I wouldnt be able to live without my iPod.

There are like 475 songs on my list, mostly ranging from 2 - 4 minutes long.

IPod may be a stretch since they are $300. Can anybody find them for less, new? The Zen Touch is a possibility, they are $250 on their site. So you think I should get one of these?

I like the mini. the other ipods are too big. I put my mini in my pocket (I use it just about every day), and I have to keep my cell phone (also very slim and small) in the other pocket, otherwise theres a huge bulge in my pocket.

"Hey mr, is that an ipod in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"

I really dont need 20 gigs anyways. I only have about 1000 songs, and I dont download much more. I listen to a lot of classic rock, and some new rock, but a lot of music that comes out I really dont like. And they aren't going to make any more classic rock. So 6gb is perfectly fine for me.

But I absolutely agree, if you even think you MIGHT go over the 6gbs, just spend the few more bucks and get the 20.

I got a mini becuase it was a gift, and I didnt want my parents to spend too much money on me (I sitll thinkg $220 is still too much.. My mom got a teacher's discount)

do NOT get rio's. they break very easily and will have to get many replacements. they are just horrible quality. but definatly get the normal ipod. i love mine and have 798 (gaa only 2 more songs til 800) songs and only have used up like 4gb. they are great and really durable. really durable. i have dropped mine countless times and it still plays perfectly after the drop. but make sure you don't play it on full blast for too long. for 1 it makes the batters run out faster, and 2 it can hurt the headphones you get with it. mine are all weird now and the little plastic peice on the speaker in the headphones is really loose nd you can hear it when you play it loud. and the ipod is also good if you are a jogger. with the 20gig you get a free case that works pretty well and will stay in place. before i hurt myself i have to run anywher from 5-10 miles a day (crosscountry runner) and it kept in place and didn't fail.

i say look at the DELL DJ20. its 250, and it holds 20 gb. i have a generation 1 dell dj 15 (they dont sell it anymore) and its served me everything i can ask for. holds plenty of room, and the warranty is amazing. if you break it, just call up dell say its broken, and theyll send you a refurbished one. even if the refurbished one breaks, theyll send you ANOTHER. but anyway, if you dont want to spend 250, you can even look for the dell pocket dj. the pocket dj is 5gb, but what you would do to conserve room is only put your favorite songs on, or songs you've recently been listening to. the pocket dj is INCREDIBLY small.. its ALOT smaller than the ipod mini. the only thing the ipod really has over the dell is that its nicer looking. besides that, the dell really fits your needs and has a better warranty than the ipod. ipod battery dies out after like a year (thats what happened to 2 of my friends) and the battery life is like 8 hrs. the dell is 14 for the pocket dj and 20 for the dell dj 20. but if i were you, either invest int he dell dj20 or the dell pocket dj. once you have an mp3 player youll notice youll want to fill it up more and more so id say go with the dj 20. (also try ebay)?

Like I said, I have a little less than 500 songs on my list, can't be too much. May not get too much bigger than that.

I found the Zen Touch 20GB for $212.49 with...

1 Creative Zen Touch 20GB Player
1 Pair of Stereo Earphones
1 Universal Power Adapter
1 Carrying case
1 USB 2.0 Cable
1 Installation CD
1 Quick Start Guide

Also found an IPod 20GB for $268.65 with...

1 IPod 20GB MP3 Player
1 Earbud Headphones
1 AC Adapter
1 Firewire Cable
1 USB 2.0 Cable

And an IPod Mini 6GB for $223.95 with...

1 IPod Mini 6GB
1 Earbud Headphones
1 Belt Clip
1 USB 2.0 Cable
1 Getting Started Guide

I think I'm going to stick with one of these three. The Mini would probably be more than enough for me, and it's smaller than the IPod with the same features. The IPod also comes with the Firewire Cable though and is way more than enough for me. The IPods have alot more features than the Touch does. The Touch's battery lasts up to 24 hours, while the IPod's are like half that. Also includes a carrying case.

What you think?

well, my friend has an ipod he shares with his sister and he has filled up all 20g.

They just copied all their CD's onto the computer and then transfered the files to the ipod. I think he says he still has like 25 more CD's to copy but it filled up.

i have an ipod shuffle.
$100 for 512mb...
i dont really need an LCD screen, it gets great battery life, its the best value of the flash based MP3 players, and it is super light. I just fill it up with different songs every couple of days and it never gets old. iPods are nice but id rather spend a couple hundred dollares on other things.

Alright, thanks to Alpha, I'm deffinitly getting the IPod Mini. Same features as the IPod, smaller/lighter, and holds way more than enough songs for me. All of my music only takes up like 1.5GB, there will be 4.5 left, so it's cool. Thanks for your help.
