skimboarding.....in kansas

title says it all. my and 2 of my friends had one of the funnest nights weve had in a long time, we were all just sitting around listenin to music playin ps2 wen my friend grant (who has actually skim boarded) got the idea to skim board in the snow. it wasnt deep snow, maybe 2 inches because it had melted and froze again so it was slick as hell. well we were skim boardin on his lawn for awhile, then we went to some real small slopes and decided it was freaking awesome. well once we got cold enough we went inside and his mom asked us how it was ect... then she said "well why dont u guys try it at the country club golf course?" we didnt think she was serisous, but it was only 9 o' clock and she was haha. so we ate some smores and started planning...........well while we were looking for some reflective tape to put on the board we stumbled across some old halloween costumes. a wizards outfit, batman stuff, and a rasta hat. i got the awesome idea of wearing them lol so i was in a big wizards robe (purple with sparkly things in the cuffs) chris was in a tiny batman cape with a wizards hat. and my friend was in the rasta hat.

so we were off, walking up one of the main roads of my town in full costume carrying 2 skimboards and a boogey board (couldnt find the 3rd skimboard). of course people were honkin and we were waving at them lol.

well we got there and we found out that sand pits are teh best thing to frozen skimboard on. and they have some huge sandtraps at the countryclub. we went far enough away from the main building so they couldnt see us. Although there was a putting green that was froze over and made us fly so fast we almost couldnt do it........so we ran and slid on our boards on our stomachs lol .we would run at the boards and jump on them and slide as far and fast as we could till we'd eat it hard. or sometimes land it with a 180. chris was the only one to get a 360 and he did it on the boogeyboard. we found a small "gap" between 2 sand pits there was about a foot of grass between the two and that occupied us for a long time lol it was tight cuz we could catch air.......not much at all, but some none the less.

on our way out we found a small sandtrap that was like an oval, probably 7feet x 10 ft....it was just like a freakin bowl. it even had a small drop in place.

idk, just thought id share with u guys, we were gonna tape it...but his camera didnt have a light on it so we couldnt. next time we are either doing it in the day, getting a camera with night vision, or getting a camera with light......either way next time it snows here i promise i will have a salina skimboarding video. it was possibly the funnest thing to do in the winter and i strongly suggest trying it....boogeyboards are easy to steer but skim boards are much faster haha well thats was my weekend.

/discuss

tl;dr-just read it. it was fun

EDIT: for those of u that dont know what a skim board looks like here is some........and the one on the far right is actually EXACTLY the same as one of the ones we had

i used to live by a golf course, and me and my friends would lay on our skateboards and og down the hills on the path, it was crazy as hell. i have sooo many scars from that and so many good memories.

none of my friends will let me use their skim boards in the snow/ice. But I can understand, they are 200 dollar boards. But some of my friends have snow skates. Basically skateboard decks made for use in the snow. Those are pretty sweet.

One night, out at some private soccer club's fields, me and my friends snuck in with skimboards and industrial detergent. We waited for the sprinklers to turn on, then whipped out the suds and went to town. That was the most fun I've had in a long time.

The next day, though, there was a huge spot of dead grass and mud in the middle of the field

I want to buy a cheap snow board, and board whenever is snows pretty good (I live in KS also btw).

I go to a local park (Sedgwick County Park) and their is a huge ****ing hill, it is somewhat fun, hiting kids on the way down

That's what I love about Snow Boarding, it is the only X-Treme sport that is fun to bail. Maybe surfing, I wouldn't know.

Hey Skate/Paint, where in KS you live? And did you get out of school cause of the snow at all?
