turk mauser question

I just got a turkish model 1938 mauser and have some q's about it. I dont know if i will get alot of answers seeing as this is a pb forum but w/e:
-what is the hole in the stock with the metal insert for??
-should i get this sight rail : www.iron-elite.com
or this sight rail: farrell mount

Im not a real genius in gun's or anything. But i have saw gun's that had a hole or place in the stock's that held stuff to clean the gun? Maybe, not really sure though.

no, this isnt IN the butt plate, its right throught the side of the stock, the only cleaning tool is the cleaning rod along the barrel

Maybe a mount for some sort of sling? Your description is a little vague.

It's a marking disc and can also be used for bolt disassembly.

The firing pin in the bolt is spring operated. To remove it, the pin must be compressed. You place the pin in the hole and compress etc etc.

And then around the outside of the ring. Inventory, unit assignments, models, etc were engraved on it.
