Xbox and XP

I know this is an odd place to ask this question. Ill just get to the point. A friend of mine wants to get a laptop so he can stream video from his 360 onto a computer harddrive. He would also like to use a PC as a library for music that he could connect to the 360. (I know nothing about Xbox so Im assuming all of this is possible). To do any of this does he need "Windows Media Center" or is the standard software on a PC enough.

Thanks a bunch

I dont have a 360 but i do have a regular xbox, but anyway:
in order to upload or download anything to xbox you need an ftp program and a router. Again, i dont have a 360 so I dont know how tight they are on its security, but to do it with a regular xbox you would need a modchip.
