ok...

how come human fingers are the only thing that can move laptop touch pads? i have tried pencils, pens, school i.d's, beef jerky (dead serious). only my finger can move it!

Im pretty sure it's heat detection, similar to the ipod wheel.

o ok. so if i had like, idk.. lets say a hair dryer, would i be able to blow the hot air, and because it sences the heat and a direction, will it move?

i dont know, blow dry the pencil erasor, not too hot just to be safe, and see if the warm erasor tip gets detected. It needs to detect the heat at a specific point, a blow dryer would be on the entire pad, so it would get confused, also, it would heat up your laptop, thats no good.

after further testing, a hair dryer cannot move it

Dooms is saying it detects electrical charge, nothing to do with heat. So I guess a magnet might work, like those palm pilot stencils use.

Just try something metal, like the bottom of a spoon. That should do it.

You think it would be a good idea holding a maget to a laptop? You would need an extremely weak one. My old laptop I tried a palm pilot wand and I don't remember it working.

ok. i think the heat doesnt work.. because i heated up a pencil, and nothing. the i burned a candle, blew it out and tried that. no go.

i dont really want to try with a MAGNET.

i have that everest thing on my laptop, and i think my HD temp gets up to 115 degrees fahrenheit.....it hets warm as hell on your lap, which is kinda nice in the winter...

i agree 100%. mine is always around 100. and by do i love it in the winter.

wwweee its so fun.. ever since i got home from the movies (the last ten minutes) i have been using a spoon for the mouse. really fun.
