The 60's Mustang Concept,........... ROFL!

yea, i guess the real cars dont usually look like the concept, which in some cases is a VERY GOOD thing.

the front end looks like the cone shape of the superbird/daytona charger, otherwise they are complete opposites. Theres 2 superbirds in my town, and both are absolutely immaculate. I wished i could get one, but even the ones in so-so condition go for 130-140,000

otherwise yes, that concept is ugly as hell....

Yea, that was the concept, then it was decided the Mustang should be changed to a sporty secretaries car.

No ouch, that's what they called it. The car was originally designed for women.

lol, Cars like the Chevelle, Nova, Impala, ect wern't meant to be muscle cars when they were designed either. The Chevelle was meant to be an "economical family car", basically the Honda Civic of its day. Very few old muscle cars were designed from the beginning to be muscle cars. The Ford Ranchero (The El Camino was Chevy's version that came out later) was designed to be a Ford Fairlane (a family car) for Farmers. Interesting stuff.

i beg to differ dooms,

*the chevelle had an SS option ever since the first model in 1964, (with a 300hp[at the crank] 327cid), and just one year later, the sophmore year for chevelles in 1965 it was available with a big block with 375hp.

*The Camaro was the same way, even in its first year of production they had 375hp from the factory.

*Even the Impala was originally designed to pack power, way back in 1958 when they first came out they were offered with 315hp at the crank, and back in the 50's that was ALOT.

*HOWEVER chevy did have one exception, the nova wasnt originally designed to be a muscle car, that took a couple years.

**but yeah, fords one main weapon they contain, the mustang, the first year it was released, barely pushed 200hp, and was a car made for secretaries. I wonder if carrol shelby is responsible for turning that round.

The Chevelle concept car was a continuation of the Corvair in a RWD form, when it was designed it was not meant to be a muscle car.

*The Camaro was the same way, even in its first year of production they had 375hp from the factory.

The Camaro was GMs answer to the mustang, which was already offering a big block by that time.

*Even the Impala was originally designed to pack power, way back in 1958 when they first came out they were offered with 315hp at the crank, and back in the 50's that was ALOT.

Ed Cole, the head engineer of the impala project called it a "prestige car within the reach of the average American citizen." Really, It was meant to be a better looking Bel Air.

Now, if you really want to know something cool. The Impala concept car was a Corvette with a modified exterior, what a leap that one was, huh? I want to ask Ed Cole about that one.

A pic (nice looking ain't it?):

It then went to this, as a modified Bel Air:

My grandmother had Impala SS just like this one.....too bad she didn't save it.
