football training?

so what are some pointers u guys can give me to get bigger, faster, stronger for football. im a freshman and plan on lettering varsity (special teams). my coach already said i will. but i need to get bigger. i am 5'9 145 right now i bench 205, squat 275, clean.......170 maybe? i cant remember? um i havent timed my forty time in a loooooong time so idk what it is. my main goal is to be quicker, and weigh 160. what is the best way i can achieve this?

second question...

i am adhered (SP) by my recent surgery on my elbow making it very difficult to lift upper body. (although i did do 10 one handed pull ups ) so what are the best plyometrics u guys no of? plyometrics are workouts with no weight.

Use leg weights and run. This will make you faster and be able to run better with people hanging off of you.

as for upper body workout without weights im not sure. Not very intelligent on that type of workouts.

But really what you need for football, is to have the right mindset. I started center every year I played. But I could have played any other position if I had the right mindset. Right now I realise it and it makes me angry that I missed out on so much. To be really great on the field, you have to act like that game is your life. If you really care about winning like you do living, you will play more aggressive than anyone else you will play with. And that will make you rise above your enemys.

Edit- or you can have the mindset of having fun. Which will be fun, but will not amount to much other than fun.

if youre upper body is shot, id say lotsa squats and a little running. calf raisers, leg press, etc. upper body......can you do light resistance? they make those giant rubber band things for light resistance, maybe you could try that.... im going to be a senior next year on varsity again and im a dumbass cuz i never lift....i need to get on it, QUICK.... my workout consists of bench, incline bench, squats, cleans, abs, and equilibrium stuff. Im OL/DL, so i need to be pretty evened out. What position do you play? thatd help out alot........

Running with leg weights is very bad for your joints, it puts more stress on them than they are used too. Its much better to run with a weight vest.

Thats why you start off easy and slowly work your way up. Anything you start off excessive with is going to hurt.

The best way to build your legs is simple and takes no machines. Get yourself a strong backpack, and fill it up with about 75 pounds of weight, and walk up the biggest hill you can find a couple times. It will work your upper leg like crazy.

Get some ankle weights and run with those, they will help everything in your legs, and will also build some endurance.

Do quick sprints to gain agility.

After you do all this for a couple months, your legs will be insane.

I've tried that before up the steepest hill on my road.I used about 90 lbs in the back-pack though. It burnt like hell. The hill was about 80 yard walk to the top.It was harder then 3 hours of conditioning in football. It doesn't hurt your back if you lean forward.

That's what I do.

I use 75, go up about a 60* hill that's about 80 yards 5 times or so. Hurts like hell.

I wouldnt recomend using leg weights. They are very hard on your knees....

Heres what I would do.
1. Get a good brand of protein, like MHP Probolic SR.
2. Get some jumpsoles. And sprint with them often.
3. Get a boxing bag, and beat the hell out of it. If you train hard for boxing, you will be in great shape for football.

lol. Thats Better than playing Oline and Defensive End when u only weigh about 90-110 lol.

I like running with parachutes, or a rope and someone holding you back that works well for speed training...but the regular leg exercies in the gym work for me with working out the lower body.
