Need to boost laptop power!

Hello everyone. I am in the quest to get Oblivion to run smoothly on my less than perfect convertible tablet.

My spec are,
2.0Ghz Dual Core
1 Gig DDR
80 gig HD
Mobility Radeon X1400 (128mb, 258mb hyper)

I am using the stock drivers I believe and am looking to upgrade those as well (Omega or Catalyst?).

Does anyone have any idea how I can add visual power to this thing without much overclocking. I'm trying to keep this as safe as posible because its brand new. What graphics tweaks can I do in game to turn off the less than needed effects as well.

PS. how easy is it to replace RAM in a laptop. I'm only using 2x512mb right now and would like to upgrade in the future to 2x1gig

ram is usually pretty easy, just take off a plate on the bottom and it's right there to remove.

I don't know if ATITool works on laptop graphics cards, but if it does, look into it. I got 35% more performance out of my X700 on my desktop computer.
class YourMom
public decimal GetWeight()
return GetWeight();
