Fighting with a jerk on another forum about street racing

i know theres at least one or two guys on here who lost someone due to street racing or just people driving like jack-holes. So when i saw this guys post on my chevelle forum, i had to give him a piece of my mind.

my user name on this forum is "rick T", the guys original post said hes building a car mainly to street race, he then edited it, but someones quote shows u what he originally said.

Ehh he's kinda got a point.. The thread wasn't about street racing.

But him saying that it's going to be used for street racing is just asking for him to be flamed and lectured.

yea i know that thread wasnt about street racing

but thats a forum dedicated to the restoration of chevelles, and just like this forum, does not support street racing. So if your priorities on a car is street racing, then ya shouldnt expect any credible advice and support.

Hence that forum always has at least 1000 people on it, always at least 200 members logged in, usually more like 500, and he got basically no support.

A guy like that isnt welcome

im pretty sure i pwned him, with help from my loyal side kick

i don't see any pwnage. i see some self-righteous lecturing, which really isn't going to stop him or anyone else from street-racing. He also deleted the "offending" line before you posted. I think your lecturing was highly unnecessary. And yes, I do think streetracing is stupid when done down main street, but when I had my Tbird and Mustang I'd race out in the boonies where nobody would be hurt except those participating. He didn't make a thread about "OMG so I raced some ricer down Main street and almost hit another car it was sooooo tyte yo!!1," he was only being honest. One little line about how his car isn't going to be a show car or trailer whore doesn't make him unwelcome there. So don't go patting yourself on the back, you really didn't "pwn" anybody.

In defense to that, a lot of places don't have a track. Hell the nearest track around here is a good 40 minutes away..

well let's see
-it's free
-it's fun
-it's exciting
-it's not like the damned cars self-destruct, killing everybody within a 10 mile radius for chrissakes
-in Fresno where I was, the closest track was 2 hours away in Bakersfield, or 3 hours away in Sacramento.

it's illegal for a reason? just like smoking pot is illegal for a reason? just like drinking under 21 is illegal for a reason? just like in san francisco "Persons classified as "ugly" may not walk down any street."?

something being illegal does NOT give full unadulterated reason to something. while something like murder, rape etc. is illegal because it's mala en se (wrong in and of itself), something like streetracing, jaywalking, seatbelts etc. is illegal mala prohibita (wrong because it's prohibited) i.e. it's only illegal because somebody said so. just as it can be made illegal for somebody to walk down the street because they're classified as ugly, it can be made illegal to streetrace down a straight, flat, deserted street in the middle of nowhere.

and yes, it is worth it. and don't bother posting statistics, pictures, stories, etc. it's just as dangerous riding a motorcycle, driving down the highway, or walking across the damned street. I don't care if some dip**** flipped his POS honda racing down the street, doesn't make a difference to me

actually yea, i think pots illegal for 2 reasons.

#1 because some people do get seriously addicted and then move on to things like cocaine or herion, and then are just ****ed up for the rest of their lives.

#2 the government cant find a way to make money off of pot. Since it can be grown in house its impossible to tax

drinking under 21? yea actually just like that

#1 because kids that are like 15 can be extremely immature and might not be able to know when to stop taking drinks, etc

the government not being able to tax it is a legitimate reason for it being illegal??

and what about 20 year olds? 19? 18?? If you're between 18 and 21 you can either slowly kill yourself smoking cigarettes, or die a little quicker going to war for your country. but god forbid you drink alcohol!!

you're just reinforcing my points. just because something is against the law does not make it inherently stupid, unsafe, etc. most of the time it's a law because of feel-good politicians who enact a law to make their feel-good citizens feel better about themselves (in 08 it will be illegal to talk on your cell phone while driving. eating, putting on makeup, playing with the radio, and otherwise not paying attention to your driving, on the other hand, is totally legal). in many cases, the laws are there to protect people from themselves, which is a completely asinine idea in my book. get rid of seat belt laws, helmet laws, suicide laws (like those work anyways), etc. and the gene pool will eventually start cleaning itself up like it should. if you have to be forced by the government to wear a helmet while riding a motorcycle, you should not be breeding

i LOVE how you left out my first point, yes i feel thats a secondary reason for pot being illegal. Same reasons why prostitution is illegal. #1 health and safety #2 cause the government cant possibly regulate the tax on it (exc las vegas)

i actually agree with you on that one. If someone choses to not wear a seatbelt, thats their choice to make, they are only putting themselves in danger and nobody else. Not even anything like addiction or peer pressure are present here to make it affect others. If you wanna take that risk, it should be ur right

I will yell at someone until they put their seatbelt on.. It pisses me off that people don't wear them.

Why are ya'll *****ing about this? I honestly dont get in my truck and think, 'Oh ****, gotta put on my seatbelt or pbf will get mad!'

Your not going to change anyones opinion at all. All your going to do is get them to argue and get even more set in their ways. If some kid in a honda flips his ****pile and kills himself, so be it. If he kills innocent bystanders, then thats unfortionate. But that kid issent gunna stop racing because some guy he has never met and 99% sure will NEVER meet on a forum has to act like his dad.

Anyone who has been here for a while can vouch for me, Im usually not like this, but im so god damn sick and tired of all this streetracing ****.

tell that to the people on here who've lost a loved one due to a streetracer or irresponsible kid driving 100+... not to sound like an ass or anything, but it's more than unfortunate if someone like that kills innocent bystanders... not sure how you would like it if u were at the roadside cafe and a car came carreening over the curb and into your face at over 100 MPH... cant really tell yourself you shouldnt've been there once you're dead...

what's that got to do with anything?

point is, the kid is going to race whether pat shakes his finger at him or not. now if he races out in the boonies like he said then there's no worry about running into a "roadside cafe"

i was directing the statement to rb who said "If he kills innocent bystanders, then thats unfortionate." if you're out in the boonies racing you dont really have innocent bystanders...

If there are spectators anywhere they must know they are taking a risk. Thats why I hate it when the news calls spectators "innocent bystanders."

Still ****ty nonetheless.

yea, i dont have a problem with someone street racing when its a situation if they wreck they will only kill themselves, cause thats their own decision to make.

BUT there are kids on every auto forum that are getting their licenses in a matter of months, and they dont need to be reading how some guy says street racing is cool and safe if ur careful and all, cause the truth is it isnt

w/e i thougt this thread was dead
