Espresso

Anyone have a machine? I'm looking into getting one.

Few questions:
1. How expensive is the espresso coffee compared to regular coffee? It is pre-ground, correct?
2. What exactly does steaming the milk involve? In pictures, I have seen the wand off to the side, but do you just spray milk in a cup with steam, or run the milk through the machine?
3. How often is it reccommended that you clean the machine? I'm assuming I would want to clean it after each use if milk was being run through.

Does this look like a good machine?

I can't really answer any of the questions because my dad makes it but that looks like a smaller version of mine and is made by the same company and I must say it makes a fine cup of beverage.

I remember when i had all those questions, so I'll help you out.

1)you can get espresso grind for the same price. go toa grocery store and thier grinding machine should have a "extra fine" or "espresso" setting.

2)To froth the milk, you put the milk in a cup and hold the nozzle just under the surface of the milk. I usually heat up the milk by moving the nozzle all the way into the cup then froth it by doing what I just told you.
Frothing the milk breaks it down and sweetens it, so you don't need sugar.

3) After you froth milk, get a cup of water and "froth that fro 30 seconds or so" so clean it out. then get a rag/paper towel and clean off the nozzle.

4) looks better than my $30 Mr coffee brand espresso machine I bought at walmart

How does frothing of the milk work? Is the milk sucked up into the machine?

no no. the water inside is boiled and steams. You release the steam and it comes out the nozzle. The steam scalds the milk and gives it the sweet and frothy glory we all know and love.
