The Law.

So I was driving to school today and I was making a turn and a kid ran into me on his bike. He fell off, and just banged up his knee or something. No cuts or bruises I don't think.

I helped him up, made sure he was okay, drove him to his house, took him to his house and talked to his parents and such.

Is there any way he could sue me?

People can sue over anything. Whether they win or not is a different story.

Yeah, thats mainly what I'm asking, if they were to (I don't think they would, I live in a fairly rich neighborhood so I doubt they'd be trying to get money, but then again, you never know) would it be likely that they would win?

And I held out my hand and he grabbed him and helped him up.

You were parked/stopped, and he hit your car and fell off his bike?

I'm surprised he got into your car.

I don't see how they could sue you but like people have said, people sue for some pretty stupid **** nowadays.

wait - he didn't get into your car? did you lead the teacher to his house?

i'm sure he could find a reason to try and sue you, but there is still little way that he could find to win the case.

honestly i wouldn't worry about it, if he hit you, you could consider suing him before he could sue you...

was your car damaged?

Thats right, he got into the teacher's car, and I followed her to his house. And no, nothing happened to my car at all.

But did he let you pick him up?

Remember, a lady got 3 million off of a coffee burn from McDonalds because the cup didn't say "warning: hot"

Who the **** dumps coffee on their leg to see if it's hot?

Well than I see no way he can sue you, sure theres a small percent that he can because I could sue my cat for eating his food but I think you're safe.

That's not what happened at all... why dont you go look up the actual case instead of quoting myths?

yeh really.. the case is so miscontrued.

people can sue for anything technically, but is it worth it? in a civil case the only think you recieve is damages usually int he form of money. now, if this kid's knee is fine and he's perfectly fine, i doubt he's going to be paying for lawyer fees to sue you for his broken bike and bruised knee..

now if he had a broken leg, broken femur, etc. that's a different story. he can sue you for a number of things: pain and suffering, idk how insurance works where you live, but that could also be a factor. also if theres any long-term damage, thats something lawyers go after.

also, a lawyer might prove his case different ways. they migh tsay you were negligent by hitting him. mabye you were paying attention, speeding, etc. but if you didnt file a police report, insurance claim, or anything, it's pretty hard to do any of that. also it really depends on the laws where you live. in new york, we have no-fault insurance so everyhting is paid by both parties through insurance, and you can sue for additional damages.

and martrix agent, im taking an emt training course, and it has to do with liability and consent. you can't treat a patient whose conscious and alert if they refuse care. theres alot of reasons for it, people alot of the time feel like they're fine, and other times for religious reasons.

and im sorry but kant_think you have no idea what you're tlaking about.. the woman sued mcdonalds because they brewed the coffee at an unsafe temperature and when she was driving the coffee spilled (it was between her legs) on her and caused her to crash. she didn't sue because she wrecked her car, she sued because she recieved third-degree burns from the coffee without any warning of it's temperature. had the coffee been at a reasonable temperature, she probably could have been found negligent (for having it between her legs), however thats not the case, it was at an unsafe temperature.

also, her husband sued apparently because he couldnt have sex with her (for real haha)

I hate people as thick headed as you. You're an idiot.

The coffee was heated to 3 times what it should have been. The second her lips touched the burning coffee she instinctively dropped it, this is while she is getting burns all over the inside of her mouth. She had permanent scarring on her legs from where she dropped it. The coffee was much much hotter than it needed to be. It is nothing but incompetence on McDonald's part.

I stopped at a Hardees on 610 like a year ago, got my food inside and made a point to think that the girl working was a *****.

Anyways, that same night after I left she spit in this guys drink, he saw it, called the cops and she got arrested. I dunno if he sued or anything (I'm sure he did) but it made me wonder if I had a loogie sprite...

technically, he could sue you. but I doubt he'd win. He'd have to have a damn good lawyer. See, if we cant get consent from a patient, we just wait till he/she passes out and take em anyway.
