Lean-ness

A/F of ~13.0-13.5 above 4k RPMs.

I'm running slightly lean... but I'm not, really, because my A/F is still below stoichiometry. I was really surprised to learn this since the car revs well and freely, idles perfect--even in the cold--never any muffler pops, etc.

It'll cost about $2,300 to fix it up... well thats with new #30 injectors, plugs, a new 3.5in HFM, and custom tuning... could cost less by cutting a few things, but I would like to do it right.

As I mentioned I was considering in another thread, I would like to sell my car. I don't want to drop ~$2,000 on something I'm about to sell, esp. when I won't get much if any return on. However, I can not muster the heartless morality by selling my car as it is. And by having a little addendum on my for sale ad saying "by the way, it's running lean" kills any deal.

So any advice? It runs strong and perfect, idles fine... and I'm not running truly lean, just below what most tune for. How bad can it be? (Knocks on wood) I'd like to just sell it and get the price I am looking for. Instead, this came up and I just can't sell it like this without telling someone. But its difficult for me to spend so much money and not get any fiscal return...

yea, you're not lean, but for a f/i car, might want to get it down a little bit. A lot of guys I know ran around 12-12.5. Most tib guys with s/c setups are in the 11s. So if I were you, I'd richen up the curve past 4k rpms. Its not going to hurt you right now, but it might in the long run. If I were you, I'd stick with 11.5-12. All you need is a spike and you kiss your engine goodbye.

Isn't that one of the purposes of fuel cut?

I don't think it's nothing to be real concerned about. Besides, leaner is meaner.

When we tune the 96 cobra, we always run about 1 degree leaner. I'd say he's put about 4k miles on this tune and it hasn't hurt anything at all.

The same argument you make could apply to cars, paintball guns, prostitutes, and firearms.

how about the tib and the hatch? You have a decently quick dd that gets looks everywhere and if someone thinks your car is slow, just tell them you have to run home and get the honda and give them a good dusting. Nothing like an 11 sec street car
