Strange...

Today, I had an SAT tutor(I'm 16) come over my house to prepare for the math section. It's the first time they came over. So why the "they"?

Now I might sound dumb, but hear me out, and let me state I have absolutely nothing against anybody trans / gay / etc, I'm completely pro choice.

So they sounded like a girl, acted like a girl, and even drove a girly car, however, I had a weird feeling about her right away.

I was up late the night before school started back up after break, watching a MANswers marathon, which I had never seen this show before. The segment was on the best way to tell if someone is really a guy / girl even if they are transgender was whether their ring finger was longer than their pointer finger(male), or the opposite for a female.

Back to the story, she was short, but had a very guy-ish face. She also had really dirty nails and I pretty much got the feeling there was something off about her. As I was thinking about the whole MANswers episode, I waited for about 10 minutes before her hand was flat, and I saw her ring finger was longer than her pointer.

I'm not saying I know she's a guy or anything, because obviously there are many reasons why someones finger could be shorter / longer than others, but I just found it really odd. So what do you think? What are the chances she's a guy? or was a guy? or has a super weird finger mutation!?

But in all seriousness, just made me rethink many things in my life, which only a few events have ever made me do. Things I might have said to someone dealing with issues of identity during my teen years, and how many people actually go through things like this.

She was really helpful actually, and if I wasn't so zoned out about the whole thing I probably would have learned a lot. Thanks for reading.

Please don't flame.

what is her/his name?

also, id start up a conversation about their time in highschool, ask about homecoming and who they went with, while it would not be a 100% way of knowing guy/girl it may help if you knew if they went with a guy or a girl

It's my SAT tutor, so that's kind of out of the question. I don't really care to know the answer honestly, just my little rant. In other news, how do you guys feel about the whole anti-piracy deal? I laughed at Google with the black bar over it.

I actually never knew her first name, I'll find out tomorrow. It was just Ms. something to me. Can't remember the last name either.

As for the anti-piracy thing... Wikipedia and a bunch of sites are mad that congress? is trying to pass a couple bills that will allow people to be prosecuted for illegally getting things off the internet? or at least that's how I understand it.

So basically, if I'm correct, it would stop the illegal dL of free music / software / etc, or at least try to stop it, by making it illegal and enforcing it with fines/jail time? So basically Apple / iTunes thinks it's a great idea and Thepiratebay and any other site that sells ad space to those illegal things would be hurt by it.

In my opinion, it won't work, even if it does get passed, which it won't imo. Those computer nerds are wayy too smart for those old farts in congress.

It's not just allow people to be prosecuted. It's going TOO far. Say someone posts something you don't like. You can file a complaint saying something on their sight infringes upon a copyright that you own. No questions asked, their website would then be shut down. And the onus to prove their innocence is on them, NOT on you to prove their guilt. That's the problem with PIPA and SOPA, it takes "protecting" IP and copyright TOOO far.

Guilty until proven innocent!

Thanks for sharing that, I didn't even think about that happening... ever.

Exactly...I'm all for protecting someone's IP...but I'm not in for becoming a socialist state that only "government approved" is allowed.

Now that I've read up on it more, it won't go through because of how radical the changes are, and how conservative our congress is. This is definitely an eye opener though, and I think it's being used more of a radical push, which will make small changes seem not so bad to compromise on compared to the bill now. (if that made sense)

i see both sides, no i dont think it will ever go through but there are issues out there that will not ever be solved the way things are currently

downloading music/movies etc IS already illegal, problem is, unless you download them from the cops, they have no idea who you are, posting stuff up for download is not illegal hence why a lot of sites like piratebay still exist, its the users that are posting stuff.

its a tough subject and we deal with a lot of it in my photo classes on both sides of the subject. this may be a bit long but bare with me, lets say everything i am saying below, i produce these photos and sell them for 1 million dollars to my own pocket

on one side you have the capturing of the image, lets say i take a picture of a mountain, no problem, its a natural feature. lets say i take a picture of a building, a few years ago a lot of big wigs tried to outlaw that so they could make money if their building ever got in a movie or anything but the ruling was that it was public domain so they could not. here is where it starts getting complicated, lets say i take a picture of a person on a street and you can tell who they are by looking at the photo, TECHNICALLY there is nothing illegal about that because they are in a public domain, however it has not stopped a few people from sueing the photographer and in a select few cases winning, at any rate it has typically turned into a long court battle that the photographer almost always wins but the court costs and time are not pretty

my understanding is that a photo on public property you would need a photo release form otherwise you have no ground to stand on in court

lately this next scenario has been happening a lot and it is COMPLETELY legal which is BS in my book

lets say you produce a photo, it is in a gallery and i come in with my camera, i take a picture on your photo on the wall, go home and crop it in by a half inch, blow it up and sell it as my own work. this is completely legal and most courts would even allow the use of a digital copy to accomplish the same thing, as long as every single pixel does not match the original it is seen as a new work of art regardless of the likeness to the original piece you could travel the world, make this great photo, get some crazy sickness and crash a plane come back, put your hard work in a gallery and in the course of an afternoon i could go, take a picture of your photo, go home and on photoshop change one pixel from blue 45 to blue 52 and then sell it for my 1 million dollar paycheck

Wow the crop off one inch thing really surprised me. Now I know why you can't take pictures in art museums?

Also, here's something for an idea on the whole photo thing. I'm no art major or anything, but these inspired me.

The way it's written, it isn't an anti piracy bill. It's an anti-everything on the internet bill. Anything that has a copyright and is linked/posted anywhere else, can get marked as infringement, and the site could be shut down. This bill has been an issue for a while now, and I'm glad sites finally got together and shut down for a period of time. Any site where you can upload pictures, videos, music, whatever, will have a chance of being shut down completely or blacklisted by ISP's. The internet won't be the same if this passes the way it is right now.

Here's a video I saw a while ago, gives some good insight on the topic if you don't want to read into it further.
