NFL playoffs

Who is your pick?

Course Im a hawks fan so im sticking with them for home field advantage coming into the playoffs

I was reading somewhere though that come the saints game on Monday, assuming the hawks win that one and if either the 49ers or cardinals loose today the hawks will have clinched the NFC, but how does that work? How does either team loosing make the hawks clinch?

edit: nevermind I just dug some more, turns out the hawks will clinch with a win over the saints and either a win over the 49ers or the cardinals since we are playing both in the next few weeks.

so, what do you think? who is going to the playoffs and who is sitting at home watching?

in the NFC west?

Seattle definitely makes it. I see them making it to the conference finals, unless they do something stupid or have crucial injuries.

If you want to watch a disaster, watch the first game the colts play in the playoffs. They're gonna get embarrassed.

I don't know, they'll probably be hosting the Ravens or Fishies. Even without Wayne, I think they can beat either of those teams. Now, 2nd round, I see them exiting.

I'll enjoy seeing the Lions in it assuming they don't blow it since the NFC North is now most definitely there's for the taking. Of course, it'll be 1 and done, since their QB loves to overthrow recievers and throw to the plain wrong team. I don't see why this management continues to be so enamored with Stafford. He has 1 good quality, he has a strong arm. So does Brandon Wheedon, and we see how well he's working out...

I will be rooting for the Seahawks, since I like Beast Mode a lot. In the AFC, I have to root for the Broncos.

ill have to watch that one.

this year is odd with the NFC and AFC kind of swapping places from the norm. the year the hawks went to the superbowl we came into the playoffs 7-9 and everyone was screaming that the rules needed to be changed so a team with a loosing record would not be in the playoffs but how much you want to bet now that that may happen to a east coast team nobody is going to bat an eye

RG3 just lost. I love watching him loose, almost as much as watching kappernick loose

I absolutely LOVE watching RG3 loose. The way the media was salivating and tripping all over themselves when they talked about him made me sick.

same here, when the hawks were doing great last season they would mention it, then go back to rg3, or, RG Knee as we now know him. I think its a little crazy that they are even playing him, A) he never really let that knee heal properly before jumping back out on the field and B) its not like the redskins are going to make the play offs at this point anyway, redskins as a team lost a lot of respect from me just for that, he is still hurt but they are still playing him for really no reason at this point. Back when we had alexander he had the same thing happen to him, took a whole season off, came back and never played the same but that was a mix of reasons why As a player i also think he is not used to loosing. The media, and I agree with them on this were giving him crap because he basically wont admit that there is anything wrong with the redskins. Basically he will just tell them whats going right with the team and wont talk about anything that is negative as if, ignore it and it will go away

who is your pick for the saints / hawks game?

Brees can get hot, but Seattle had a pretty good pass defence. I don't see it happening.

its true, a lot of commentators seem to forget that every home game

they also brought up that brees has apparently never lost on monday night football, yes, the monday night advantage, +3 points

I will say the saints are probably our toughest opponents in the regular season but between the secondary and brees not exactly known for his scrambling i just dont see it happening

Brees will also have problems with his team hearing audibles. That stadium is called the 12th man for a reason.

and if you ever get a chance, go to a game, it is NUTS. Im not sure why they have seats in there, nobody sits. That stadium just straight up rampages for 3 hours

I always love it when watching TV and the opposing team makes a play and the commentators say "that will quiet the crowd"....no it wont, they are the 12th man, they dont do quiet....unless the hawks are on offense

The going rate for tickets this season though, you would have to trade one of your markers for them, last I heard the tickets to that saints game were going for around $400 each, but granted that was a pretty big game, typically you can still get a pair for $400 and if you are lucky and get them early enough, $300

Im jealous of the season ticket holders, they have not seen a loss in the last 2 years....

so, who do you think makes the playoffs and who gets shown the door?

I am hoping the 49ers get booted out, unfortunately the schedule the way it is the cardinals are really the only team that would do it but they would have to go for 3 straight wins in order to do it, the eagles face the lions next week but even if the eagles win they would basically swap spots with the lions (maybe im wrong on that though)

I suppose though, even if the 49ers get in they would then have to face most likely the lions, panthers, cowboys and a case could be made for the eagles, a game that I would put money not on the 9ers, but supposing they win that, they would then face us....again....and Kapernick had a 20.1 rating against us the last time we played in the clink.....20.1, that basically means he was gift wrapping the ball and giving it to us....

If it actually happened that way I really cant imagine an easier way to get to the superbowl. In all likelyhood though we will be facing the saints again at the clink, Supposing the 49ers get in I see them swiftly exiting in the wildcard game

for the AFC, broncos and patriots are pretty much in, I see the chiefs winning the wildcard slot, the other team is a tough call though, Im going with the colts since they are the only team that beat us this year, so then it would be colts/patriots and chiefs/broncos if I am seeing it right, and from there I have to go with the patriots and the broncos but I will take the patriots to go to the superbowl

In the NFC, I think it's pretty much set who's in. It's just a matter of who'll be 2nd seed (Saints or Panthers), 3rd and 4th seed (Lions and Cowboys (due to tiebreakers) currently, but Lions have a harder schedule last 4), and who's 5th and 6th (Panthers and 49'ers currently). With a little help, the Eagles could knock off the Cowboys, and either the Eagles/Cowboys OR the Cardinals could knock out the 49'ers. Panthers play the Saints this weekend, so that will, realistically decide the #2 & #5 seed.

I agree. The NCF is pretty well set.

The AFC on the other hand? Who knows. I think something like 5 or 6 teams are fighting for a wildcard spot.

the funny part is the texans at 2-10 can still mathematically get into the playoffs while the redskins at 3-9 can not

currently the redskins are rated 31st in the league only with the texans under them....LOL!

Heck yes, seahawks #1 seed!

ok, this is going to be a dumb question and maybe its because Im tired but I cant seem to wrap my head around it.

Why, are the 8-7 packers going to the playoffs and the 10-6 cardinals are not?
I thought the first 6 teams out of each conference went to the playoffs? for some reason the packers are ranked higher even though they have a 53% win rate while the cardinals have a 62% win rate.

8-7-1 Packers won their divisioin. 10-6 Cardinals did not. Ergo, under current playoff rules, the division winner gets in regardless of record. Remember a few years ago there was a 7-9 team named the Seahawks that made the playoffs despite having a losing record?

#1 seed - Division winner with best record
#2-4 seeds - Division winners with best records, descending. All of these teams get to host at least 1 game.
#5 & 6 seed - Best record of non-division winners, descending. Also explains why the Pack, despite having a worse record than the 49'ers, will be hosting the 49'ers. Pack won their division, 49'ers did not. #6 seed can never have a home game. Only way a #5 seed gets a home game is if the Conference Championship comes down to #5 vs. #6.

There has been a lot of talk about expanding the playoffs and changing it to just pure record and throw out that divisional winners get a free pass regardless of record.

No, that was the year the f-tard Green Bay Fudgepackers beat the Steelers. 2010/11.

But 2 firsts for the NFL. First team to have a losing record to ever make the playoffs, and first team with a losing record to ever win a playoff game. I can't remember who eliminated the Hawks that year though, and too lazy to look it up.

Probably no rematch this year in the playoffs. Saints on the road, not good for their chances to even make it out of the Wild Card round.

I never liked the Saints. Not enough to cheer against them, but I'm pretty indifferent to them. I feel like I should have an opinion on the Panthers as well, but I just don't care.

My hatred rankings are as follows:
Patriots
Ravens
Steelers

I will ALWAYS hope that these teams loose, unless my team needs them to win.

I agree on 2/3 of them. From most hated to least, my hated teams are:

Ravens
Patriots
Packers

the 49ers are pretty much the only team on our hatred list, packers are a distant second perhaps

I didnt know this until last week but apparently a lot of the rams fans do not like the 49ers as well, now im interested in the cardinals fans, are the 9ers just like the ugly duckling of the NFC west?

Im kinda surprised with what happened to the saints, they were looking great to be the #2 seed, congrats to the panthers though
