Looking For Players opinions on lazer tag

Hey guys,

I understand that this is a paintball forum, and I want to preface my post by saying that I do love the sport! I am, however, conducting some research and was wondering if anyone would be interested in a laser tag-style game with physical feedback specific to where you were hit. This way we can keep the scoring system, but up the intensity! Let me know what you think! Thanks.

Nope, wouldn't be interested. Laser tag systems have too many issues.

There's really good lazer tag system out there. This one comes to mind. The nice part about it is that you can play indoors and not have to worry about creating a mess, or ruining things.

With feedback? would you end up wearing a special suit with rumble packs? It seems pretty clumsy to me. I think that the better way is to add speakers to the sensors and lights. Whichever sensor is hit will light up and play a sound.

Similar, but more grown-up. The system would be integrated into the vest to respond specifically to where you were hit with a strong vibration, or electrical impulse. So if you get hit in the arm, you'll feel it in your arm. There's nothing on the market today that does that.

Sounds to me like it's going to be really clumsy to wear a full body suit with rumble packs or shock connections.

a place up where I used to live does exactly what you are describing, called laser quest. The vest has multiple sensors on it and a rumble pack over your stomach, there is a small LCD screen on your gun that will tell you where you are hit and by who along with updating your current ranking in the game. the vests are a little on the heavy side, nothing terrible but i think the problem with all laser tag systems is they are not as immersive as paintball, fun sure but you can never tell who is shooting at you before you are hit unless you are always facing them

I have seen several paintball fields also offer lazer-tag for the younger guests or people that don't want the impact of paintball or airsoft.

For myself, I have been part of both lazer-tag and paintball from almost the beginning of it's life span.

I have run successfully both an indoor and an outdoor lazer-tag system and the two cannot compare and people that play paintball, seldom play lazer-tag unless it's to please someone else.

There was a home based lazer tag system a few years ago that gave the player a shock when they got hit. For commercial venues, no one wanted it because of litigation worries, so it went from commercial use to home use, and whomever purchased one, soon sold it on eBay or it ended up being forgotten.

There are some commercial systems that are completely on the gun (ie, the hit sensors are on the gun) and all game information is being radio-relayed back to a scoring computer. Most LT owners prefer this type of system as there are fewer parts and less staff help is needed as a player just needs to pick up a gun and wait to start playing. Some of these guns also give you tactile feed back when you shoot and when you get shot. Some systems even allow for power ups (a single shot rifle, becoming a machine gun, or rocket launcher).

Now with regard to your question, are you doing a survey as to see if paintball players would also play lazer tag as an alternative or additional venue, or are you looking to create a lazer tag system???
