Ingrid Newkirk is a moron.

If you don't know who she is she is the leader of PETA, a animal rights organization if you just crawled out from under a rock.

Stolen from The Washington Times.

PETA earns pity in wake of blunders
By Gene Mueller
THE WASHINGTON TIMES

Pity the animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Things haven't gone very well of late and poor Ingrid Newkirk, PETA's president, is quickly becoming a candidate for the Guinness Book of World Records because she finds more ways to stick a foot in her mouth than anybody else possibly could. Top Stories

Because of a recent outlandish request and certain statements regarding a donkey that was used by Palestinian terrorists in hopes of blowing up innocent people, Newkirk really owes the people of Israel an apology.
The way The Washington Post reported it, late last month members of a violent branch of Yasser Arafat's Fatah Party put a donkey alongside a road between Jerusalem and the West Bank settlement of Gush Etzion. The donkey carried saddlebags filled with deadly explosives and when an Israeli bus passed, the explosives were detonated with a cell phone signal. Nobody on the bus died, but you can imagine what happened to the little jackass.
That's what ticked off Newkirk, who contacted Arafat and sort of asked him to tell his terrorists not to use donkeys when it comes to blowing up humans.
Mike Bolton, outdoors editor of the Birmingham (Ala.) News, said "PETA animal rights wackos contacted headquarters to demand action," which prompted Newkirk to fire off a letter to Arafat to ask him to please consider how cruel it is to turn a donkey into a walking bomb.
"Stop and think about that for a second," wrote Bolton. "Since 2000, 729 Israelis have died in suicide bombings and other terrorist attacks, the Israeli embassy says. [But] it took a dead donkey for some Americans to become concerned enough to take action."
Bolton is right. Imagine, an American animal rights activist showing more concern over the death of a donkey than that of hundreds of human beings who are relentlessly and senselessly attacked by terrorists.
Wrote Bolton: "PETA members are more concerned over the death of a single ass. I suppose it is human nature to be more concerned about your own kind."
As if that weren't enough to give PETA an Excedrin headache, consider the setback it received when James D. Rose, a professor of zoology and physiology at the University of Wyoming, concluded after lengthy study that fish do not feel pain when hooked.
In recent years, PETA not only hoped to outlaw recreational hunting, it also began a campaign to stop sport fishing, basing most of its battle against more than 60 million North American anglers on the unfounded belief that fish feel pain, hence suffer cruelly. PETA never was able to separate a fish's ability to feel something touching it from an ability to recognize pain.
Said Rose: "Awareness of pain depends on functions of specific regions of the cerebral cortex that fish do not possess."
If you missed it, PETA, fish are not capable of feeling pain. And as far as Mr. Rose's views about fishing are concerned, he said he used to be enormously concerned with the welfare of fish, but given his findings he now simply hopes that people worry more about well-managed, clean waters. I guess he figures the fish will take care of themselves if the water is in fine shape.
What was PETA's response to the professor's findings? Rather than admit that it might have been wrong, PETA continues to view sport fishing as a barbaric practice — which suits me just fine. If it means that PETA members will stay clear of our already crowded fishing waters, I'll be happy to play the barbarian.

I completely agree...the organization has good intentions, but it will never get anywhere without a good leader

Yeah I think so too.

Another thing that organization did was that when JC penny was selling fur coats, they wore animals costumes and drenched themselves in red paint to reinact that animals getting killed for the coats. They like crawled up to the store windows groaning pretending like they were dying. It costs the city money because the sanitation department had to come in and clean up all the paint.

Do they realize that sport hunting is kinda doing the animals a favor? I mean sure we kill then, but it prevents them from over populating, running out of food, and starving, which is more of a painful death than getting shot.

Nope, I got this from The Washington Times' own website. Why couldn't it be fake? PETA is full of crazy bastards who hold animals as more important that humans, they advocated voluntary extinction of the human race, crazy bastards I tell you.

For a patriot of a national administration that supports nuclear arms deterance, I think it's funny that you're laughing at them for 'voluntary extinction.'

Yeah, PETA is a bunch of f*ck-heads, though. Problem is, many of them would sincerely sacrifice themselves in place of another animal. Don't know what's worse- no empathy, or too much.

On the bright side, some times PETA chicks get naked and paint their bodies animal patterns. That's always pretty cool.

I got this from PETA's own website, tis not a rumor.

Following the recent bombing in Jerusalem in which a live donkey, laden with explosives, was blown up, shocking people of all nationalities around the world, PETA has written to Palestinian National Authority President Yasser Arafat asking that he urge those who listen to him to keep animals out of the conflict.

At PETA, we strive to end violence every day. As Albert Schweitzer stated, “Until he extends the circle of compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace.”

PETA’s letter to Yasser Arafat
February 3, 2003

Yasser Arafat, President
Palestinian National Authority
Ramallah, West Bank
Palestinian Authority

1 page via facsimile: 972 7 282 2365

Your Excellency:

I am writing from an organization dedicated to fighting animal abuse around the world. We have received many calls and letters from people shocked at the bombing in Jerusalem on January 26 in which a donkey, laden with explosives, was intentionally blown up.

All nations behave abominably in many ways when they are fighting their enemies, and animals are always caught in the crossfire. The U.S. Army abandoned thousands of loyal service dogs in Vietnam. Al-Qaeda and the British government have both used animals in hideously cruel biological weaponry tests. We watched on television as stray cats in your own compound fled as best they could from the Israeli bulldozers.

Animals claim no nation. They are in perpetual involuntary servitude to all humankind, and although they pose no threat and own no weapons, human beings always win in the undeclared war against them. For animals, there is no Geneva Convention and no peace treaty—just our mercy.

If you have the opportunity, will you please add to your burdens my request that you appeal to all those who listen to you to leave the animals out of this conflict?

We send you sincere wishes of peace.

Very truly yours,

Ingrid Newkirk
President, PETA

I'll go find a picture of good old Ingrid for you to wank to, although let me tell you, it ain't pretty.

PETA Puts Rats First & People Last
A failure of sanity.

By Deroy Murdock, columnist with the Scripps Howard News Service

ats have rights!" screamed a dozen protesters at CBS's studios here on June 16. Members of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals were aghast at CBS's hit program, Survivor. Stranded on a remote, tropical island, its contestants have resorted to roasting rats for food. This is too much for PETA, which defends pests — even when they are consumed for nutrition.

"Mary Ann, Skipper, Ginger and the others on Gilligan's Island became America's most beloved castaways — and they did so without cruelly killing animals for ratings," says PETA campaign coordinator RaeLeann Smith.

Even in today's Disneyfied New York, most rodents are tougher than Mickey and Minnie Mouse combined. Some 28 million rats infest Gotham's streets, subway tunnels and sewer pipes. If these critters have rights, is it fair for municipal exterminators to poison them?

While hoping that any such killing would be "quick and painless," Smith told me, "we would encourage them to control the population with non-lethal methods such as sterilization."

And if rats have rights, how about the mosquitoes that carry the deadly West Nile virus? "The question of whether or not mosquitoes have rights is not as clear," Smith says. "There are gray areas obviously...Should you spray for mosquitoes, there may be a kinder way or a less violent way, both to the mosquitoes and to the environment."

Through such vermin-hugging notions, PETA inadvertently lampoons the legitimate issue of animal welfare. Consider just a few of its wacky ideas:

*Shouting "meat pimp!", PETA activist Arathi Jayaram threw a tofu cream pie at Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman at a May 30 Washington, D.C. appearance. "Shame on you, Dan Glickman, for pushing meat and promoting animal cruelty," she hollered as cops whisked her away.

*Last May 9, PETA asked Wyoming to delete from its license plates an image of a cowboy riding a bucking bronco. PETA's Kristie Sigmon wrote Governor Jim Geringer that the plates "promote and glorify" rodeo events.

*PETA inflamed parents in February with a MilkSucks.com web page designed to sell college students on beer's alleged superiority to milk. "Save a cow's life," urge the bottle openers that PETA distributed.

*PETA also opposes animal testing, even to perfect cures for terminal illnesses. When USA Today asked spokesman Dan Mathews about this potentially life-threatening belief, he advised: "Don't get [diseases] in the first place, schmo." PETA's president, Ingrid Newkirk, once explained that if AIDS could be cured through animal testing, "we'd be against it."

PETA is not just an edgier version of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. It is a pack of dangerous radicals who have raised misanthropy to a fine art and hope to dislodge man from the top rung of the evolutionary ladder. To PETA and the animal rights crowd, human beings are walking, talking viruses that not only inhabit the Earth, but also infect it.

As Newkirk has said, "there is no rational basis for saying that a human being has special rights. A rat is a pig is a dog is a boy." One wonders how Auschwitz survivor Elie Wiesel might react to this Newkirk nugget: "Six million people died in concentration camps, but six billion broiler chickens will die this year in slaughterhouses."

To her credit, Newkirk applies her down-with-people philosophy to herself: "I would rather see a blank space where I am," she has said. "At least I wouldn't be harming anything."

An author pen-named Les U. Knight apotheosized this world view in Wild Earth magazine. "Voluntary human extinction," he wrote, "will solve every problem on Earth, social and environmental."

Controversial groups add plenty to serious debate. While the AFL-CIO and American Association of Retired Persons advance some zany concepts, they are formidable players with views that must be engaged and refuted rather than dismissed with a wave of the hand. PETA's high profile notwithstanding, it deserves to be laughed right into the same political padded cell that now houses the Temperance League and the Flat Earth Society.

In one sense, this is a shame. The impressive energy, creativity and passion of PETA's 700,000 members would be beautiful if they busied themselves by finding homes for all the creatures crowding America's animal shelters. And just imagine the good they could do by teaching illiterate children to read, guiding welfare moms back to work or caring for shut-in seniors. But rather than serve as People for the Ethical Treatment of People, PETA's lemmings accelerate America's descent into madness by screeching at the tops of their lungs...in defense of rats.

Oh, no- don't worry 'bout it. Girlfriends are so much better. Then again, you mightn't know about that. Ey?

Aha, but seriously. PETA is a bunch o wackos- but then again, I'm not sure you're in such a place to make fun of wackos. Incidentally, the kid in my debate class arguing FOR concealed carry probably got a D just because I showed up today. I kinda feel bad for 'em. Thanks for the practice.

Ahh yes that's right, lock me away because I'm a loon simply because I don't belive in gun control, kiss my ass. And I don't see where making concealed carry illegal will reduce crime being as the only people who would apply for the license and be awarded one would be law abiding people and not a crimminal because crimminal does what they want, you obviously don't know them, but here's a little secret, crimminals couldn't care less about laws except that they prevent people like you and me from having the means to protect ourselves. Yup sounds like a great plan to me, but like you said, my cheese done slipped off its cracker.

Yes, let's not.

I'm saying lock both of you away, because you both show a flagrant dissregard for human life (that, under certian cir***stances, it's better to let people die because YOU think the alternative is somehow worse.) Infact, I'm willing to give HER the moral highground over YOU, simply because she has unconditional empathy for at least SOME of the creatures on this rock.

Ahh I don't have any empathy huh? It's not that I just think PETA is a buch of jackasses pissing about stupid crap, they're worried about a goddamn donkey, but what about all the people that have been killed? I'm pissed because they don't care about the people, what's one donkey? What about all the Isralies and Palastinians? I think you're the one without empathy.

What about the people? You're the one who wants war in the middle east, not me. Are YOU doing anything to stop the suicide bombings? No, you'd rather cause more by terrorizing the middle east for fun and oil. I don't want revenge. I want it to stop, and I think that Al Qaida has proven that conventional warfare has no effect on asymetrical warfare (read: Terrorism). In a smart, but immoral move, Bush tried to terrorize them back by blowing holes in the Afghan country side. It didn't work, and now they simply have more holes to hide in. Why aren't there American terrorists in the middle east? Because the middle east has done nothing to enrage the common citizen to the point that there IS no other alternative. As much as we dramatize September 11th, at the end of the day, we still have jobs to go to and groceries to eat, and we even complain about those. Who's the war victim?

Think of it as raising awareness.

I used to be a pro-gun anti-welfare punk too. What you earn is yours to spend, and **** everybody else. War in Iraq? Cool, kill those idiots.

Then I realised that people are worth more than gas, guns, and money. That was around the time I lost my religion. Come to think of it, I was in 8th grade.

To think, it was some irrational tree hugging liberal cream puff on a forum. Go figure.

Tell you what, I can spare $.50 a month in taxes to feed the hungry. What I can't spare money for is cruise missiles that will only put us in a situation where we need more cruise missiles. Destruction is not progress. Unconditional charity is progress. You might have heard it in the form of "love your neighbor"- I don't think the Bible set down conditions for that. Just ****ing do it.
