yeah i really liked into thin air.. so much thats the book i used form one of enlgish assignments.. to write a review..

for anyone that cares... here it is

Into Thin Air

Frozen limbs, oxygen depleted minds, extreme exhaustion and death, nothing out of the ordinary on top of the world. Hired by Outside magazine to join an Everest climbing expedition, and write an article about it, Jon Krakauer takes off on a journey that he will never forget for the rest of his life.

This story is the personal account of the Mt. Everest Disaster in May 1996. Jon Krakauer takes you step by step up to the summit, and describes the long, brutal way down. He writes, with such a meticulous genius, of his own personal struggles, as well as those of the other climbers, and ultimately the fatalities of the nine that died during that doomed summit push.

It is Krakauers excellent reporting skills and attention to detail that make this story so great. Determined to make an unbiased account of the disaster, he spent months doing research and interviewing people to get his story as accurate as possible. He struggles at some points to overcome his blurry memory, brought on by the lack of oxygen, but that is where his painstaking research came in. Instead of just writing what he recalls and risking that it be false, he sought out other climbers and participates to verify his memories. It is this characteristic that makes Krakauer as good a writer as he is, as it certainly demonstrated in this story.

Not only is this story a brilliant documentation of the events that occurred in those few months, but it is also a gripping novel. Loaded with suspense and cruel detail, at points the book is almost near agony to read as the horrible fates of those who lost their lives unfolds. You canít help but feel something after reading this book. This once again proves that Krakauers writing skills are superb; he has the brain of an excellent reporter and the heart of a brilliant writer.

Avid climbers and causal readers a like will thoroughly enjoy this novel, along with anyone who would be interested in the immense effects that subtle human errors can produce. Into Thin Air is an excellent book; I highly recommend this story to anyone who enjoys a good, gripping, breathe taking novel.

As with D_Smalls, I like the LOTR series & The Hobbit before the movie(s) came out. I read The Hobbit, then read the LOTR:TFOTR, and saw the movie, then I read the other two. And of course saw the second movie.

I also like the Harry Potter series, but I don't care too much for the movie. The books are actually decent and pretty well written. You just sort of want to keep on reading & reading...I finished the new one (Order of the Phoenix) in one day. I was that into it.

I have had to read a TON of books through school, and I like most of them. I think one of my all time favorite single books is definately The Giver. I had to read it in either 5th or 6th grade, don't remember. It is just so cool and thought prevoking that you want to read it over and over or just like think & ponder about it. It's great.

I also read Bridge to Terabeitha in either 5th or 6th grade, good book too. I've read way too many books to list. Umm...Most Star Wars books are good. Walk Two Moons was good. Um....so...yeah. More will come to me later. Can't think right now.
