Arrow OPINIONS-Bush or Kerry?

Edit: I don't care if you are old enough to vote in time for the election. I want to know everyone's opinion.

I'm wanting a general idea on what the forum members think about who should be our next president. Why do you think who you voted for is the right one and why should the other not win the election?

You don't have to post your opinion if you don't want to. I just want a vote for the most part.

I think Bush is the best candidate on this one. You know, some people are complaining about how long it's taking to rebuild Iraq's government, but they don't understand how difficult that is. It took 5 years to rebuild Germany's gov't after WWII. I know that it was a different war and that they had hardly any industries left that were not majorly affected by the war, but the idea is that it takes a long time to build a new government.
These people disturb me. They don't understand how difficult all this is and that things just take time. A lot of us are caught up in the whole "Microwave Society"- we don't want to have to actually cook our food, we want it now. We just don't have patience to let things be fixed.

I mean, who are we going to turn the Iraqui government over to in a few months? The only ones that want the power right now are the militants, and we definitely aren't giving power back to them. So who?
For heaven's sake, we still have troops posted in Germany. Even after 60 years! we still have troops in Germany. This War on Terrorism is not just somthing that we can duct tape, or microwave; we have to totally disassemble that place and build everything anew.
Patience, patience, patience.

I think there's a fish hook at the end of your party line...

My personal view? The Iraqi interim government was a joke to begin with. The people don't respect it, because it was basically dictated on our own terms.

I don't see Iraq having a real revolution until their people get behind it. We're basically asking a highly, even radically, religious country to suddenly have religious tollerance. Which can't really be forced. Their political structure simply hasn't evolved that way, yet. Imagine a foriegn country invading the pre-civil war U.S., and demanding that we abolish slavery. Would not have gone well.

What Bush is doing, so far, is clumping together a mountain of dry sand, and trying to call it a sand castle, even though the second he takes his hands off of it, it's all going to fall appart.

It'd be more productive, and less costly, to just blast Phil Collins in every major Iraqi city, and see if they just mellow out. But I take it they may not be huge Genesis fans.

sry for the repost but iraqis and the majority of the islamic world is against our rebuilding of iraq. all their lives the iraqis were told what to do and think and they are still stuck on the fact that they never had the opportunity to think on their own. im patriotic and i support the troops but this isnt turning into another 'nam (vietnam) due to the simple fact that we have won the war and in the process of rebuilding. we are turning iraq into a nation that is capable of having contact with the outside world rather then keeping them out of the light and out of mind. iraqis should be grateful and thankful that this is happening for the first time in many decades.

Bush mainly because he IS doing a great job with the Iraq war and the guy is under tremendous pressure at the moment. He is doing a great job and most men that are in his position would run the country to hell. I dont know why people are being stupid and saying that he is dumb when they themselfs are the dumb ones.

Um, well usually there is more than 2 people running. If I had to vote for president it would be Christopher Walken, or 50 cent.

I don't think he could do much worse than Bush has.

Despite popular opinion, Kerry does not want to simply pull out and let Iraq go straight to hell. He has stated time and time again that he wants to bring the UN back into the picture, to put them back in control so we aren't shouldering 90% of the load. If it wasn't for Bush's "go along with us or get the f*ck out" stance, we probably would have more than a handful of other nations helping.

And don't even get me started on Bush's support of renewing and making permanent the harshest provisions in the patriot act. It seems that as long as they leave gun rights alone, the right-wing supporters are complacent with the government tearing down practically every other right guaranteed by the Constitution. That's why I want to see Bush voted out of office.

a political subforum will not work...there are to many young people on this forum who are to quick to flame...just like how religious debates don't work. There is no way to control the flow of debate because there will be one wise ass and if the mod closes it he is favoring one side....all politics will do here is divide us. we are a paintball forum not a democratic or republican forum. not good idea.

Kerry doesnt even know waht he wants. He has been caught in so many lies and contradictions it isnt even funny.

And for those of you who think that the iraqi's arent glad for what has been done, you are just watching the wrong news.

I don't think anyone has said they don't appreciate it.

What they want is us out of there, or at least real control of their nation instead of a puppet government. I could hardly blame them for that.

Also, speaking of Kerry "not knowing what he wants," I think it was Grungydan who made the comment that before Bush was president, he was against "nation building" but now he squaks it (along with "terrorism/ists" and "free the Iraqi people") like a parrot.

I think Kerry has covered his position quite well. I agree with him when he says the reason he voted for war with Iraq was everyone expected Bush to go to the UN, build a proper coalition and then go to war insted of flipping the international community the bird and going at it alone. Same holds true for the patriot act; provisions are scheduled to sunset this year, but now Bush wants to extend some and make others permanent. If anything, Bush is just as bad as Kerry is, only he doesn't change his opinion, he changes government policy.

You support Bush AND Cheney, and you think Kerry is the profiteer? His wife owns the Heinz Ketchup fortune. I don't think he's looking to get a whole lot richer!

Kerry being a "turncoat" is mostly a symbol forged by the White House spin-doctors. Everyone thinks they know all about Kerry, and how he threw away his own medals and flaunts them today.

Except... except that he didn't throw away his own medals. That's an out-right lie. Kerry was aksed by the mothers and families of dead Vietnam soldiers to throw their medals into the fire. He did that at their request, and not to bolster himself as an American anti-war who selflessly throws away his own medals.

Anything else you want to know, it's here:

http://www.factcheck.org/archive.aspx

There are about as many lies from Kerry's side of the fence, but less of them are actually aimed at Bush (the most eggregious of which is Kerry claiming that Bush felt outsourcing jobs "made sense." It was actually an economist appointed by Bush that wrote that.)
