Goin Huntin

Thats right. Im going hunting for the first time in about an hour. I will be gone until Sunday. I hope i get me a deer. Up here in Ohio you cannot use a rifle, only Shotguns and Pistols. I'll be rocking a 12 guage with hollow point slugs.

Cyea all soon guys

Make sure theres is some meat left on the deer after you shoot it. Might as well just use an M203...

Was it a Russian SKS rifle? Those are popular with hunters. I've heard the round it fires is very good for hunting.

We had 4 people hunting on opening day(uncle had an anterless liscence as well as me) and we got 5 deer within half an hour of each other. 4 bucks and a button buck. 1 huge 8 pt, 2 decent 6 pts., my 3pt.(he had a nice fork and his other tine was damaged at the skull so it would've never grown in right), and then the button buck. I'll have pics up next week if i can get em on the computer.

Yeah...an AR-15 fires a .223 round...I'm pretty shure that's not powerful enough to consistantly take down a deer in one shot. It's designed to kill humans not large game. That guy sucks.

that guy? that was me. also in iowa you can't take down a deer with a rifle. shot gun pistol or bow only. Also I would use either soft point or hollow and yes that would take out a deer. the idea is you don't just shoot it in any ole place.

Coyote hunting isn't some hush hush sport hunt. its varmit hunting. All you need is a fur bearers license which is 21 bucks here and you can hunt coyote, fox beaver what ever with anything you want. 223 is the perfect round for hunting coyote.

also coyote as well as fox have decent prices on there pelts so when hunting them you can bag as many as you want and help pay for ammo licensing ect.
also I didn't buy the gun to take out large game I bought it for the joy of shooting it. My local shop has a 50 cal attachment for my gun now and Im considering buying it. why? to blow bigger holes in things.

why on earth do they not allow rifles for deer hunting up there? stupid yanks... jk. rifle is the way to go for deer hunting, that is unless you enjoy not having much of a deer left when you do shoot it. call me morbid but i love looking at the bullet damage after i kill a deer. like the one that i popped in the back with a .30-30. dropped like a rock, mabye that was because it was missing an entire vertibre...

I've consistantly taken down deer with a .223. It's all about bullet placement. You could easily take a deer down with a 9mm if it pierced far enough to get it's vitals. If a bullet can take a human down, it's almost guaranteed to take a deer down.

The thing about .223 bullets is that the actual bullets the military uses are designed to split apart on impact into four pieces. This causes massive internal injury and forces the thing to bleed out. This is how I kill deer, but it is kind of bad for the meat, as I'm sure you can tell. With a green tip bullet, I'm not sure what the effect would be on a deer, considering green tip is for tearing through body armor, not flesh.

I use fmjs for coyote. but for deer if it were allowed I would use some winchester ballistic grey tips. they are a soft tipped round that is made for a heavy drop. cuts down on sprawl but has a multiple exit wound.
