Piranha r6 help

Hey guys, I'm getting back into paintballing, and letting my friend use my tippman 98 custom pro, I grabbed my old Piranha r6 PMI.
I hate to sound like an idiot but here's my problem:
Once I plug in the CO2 can, I will go to pull the bolt back, but it wont catch, and if I let go of it, the gun will just start firing in full auto and the only way to stop it is to push down on the bolt and wait for it to quit. Pulling the trigger wont do anything, and if i do get the bolt to catch, after pulling the trigger twice, it will start shooting rapidly again.
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

The bolt will not hold with or without air, i have also tested using multiple air tanks, and with/without balls.

your problem is somewhere between the trigger sear and hammer, somewhere in there the trigger is either always holding the sear down, the sear is worn out and not catching the hammer or the sear spring is missing, or the hammer is worn down and not catching the sear.

whatever the case it has nothing to do with your tank or what gas you are using because its not cocking even without gas in the marker
