really PE? really?

so as many of you know i recently got a etek 3, and as many of you also know, i love drop forwards

unfortunately PE does not feel that parts should be standardized, as i found out when the etek 3 got here they designed the thing to use a crazy ass mount on the bottom of the frame and didnt even have the decency to drill it for a standard 2 hole configuration

so i have 2 options now, and im rather frustrated because one of the reasons i got rid of the mini is because i couldnt mount a drop forward to it

1) drill and tap the frame to accept a 2 hole mount, use longer than standard screws and hope and pray that my holes are straight

2) shave down the drop forward to fit in the mount that PE felt the need to use. this may require welding up the standard mount holes on the drop forward and drilling and tapping a few holes for set screws

unless someone knows of a adaptor that is made and i dont to mount up standard stuff to the PE setup

ideas?

Couldn't you mount a normal rail upside down to the frame and then put a drop on the rail?

its not a dovetail at all, i thought about that, so the stupid T mount they use is a PITA. i think i am going to go option 2 as long as i have some aluminum welding wire for my mig machine at home. if i screw up the drop im only out $30

Tell us if it works! and if you're any good in the shop, it sounds like it should work on the design end of it.
