Pump gun (which to buy)

Alright my friend wants to get into paintball and hes looking at pumps (to save some cash). I found one for him here http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...151994361&rd=1. Hes only willing to spend $75. Any ideas one what he should get?

not that.
that's basically a knock off itgershark as are most pump markers.
get a tigershark or a kingman hammer. I also hear the tippman sl-68 is good, but it'll be a bit more expensive.

if he is just buying a pum to save cash then tell him that he can get a spyder victor/xtra/shutter/victor2 and like a million other semi guns for the same price. But if he still wants a pump then tell him to get a pgp.

I haven't heard many good things about the Brutes that recently flooded ebay, aside from them being cheap to buy.

The Traccer and Maverick are nice little pumps.

$75 is into the range of some semi-auto markers as well. He'll probably spend more on paint that way, but it's still worth looking at.

No brutes! Let me say that again in case you didn't hear...
NO BRUTES!

Now that we've got that cleared up, there are certainly plenty of choices out there in the sub-$75 range. eBay will yeild a bunch of Traccer/Mavericks if you're willing to wait a little while (they're the same gun basically). They can be had for around $50. Kingman Hammers also sell inexpensively, but you may have trouble tracking down a good one off eBay. Used is tough but you can get some really good deals.

I just got a circa-'95 PGP for $37 from eBay. I had to change out the mainspring, fix a few dents, refurbish the cartridge threads and give it a good polish, but for $37 and an hour's work I've got a great shooter. eBay is good, but you'll need to be patient and know what you're looking for. Don't be discouraged if you don't see anything in the first two or three weeks you're looking and hold out for a good price - you'll get it eventually.

For buying new, may I recommend the Sidekick Stock? It's $63.95 plus shipping and shoots very well. Ideal for a beginer who's looking for a pistol-type platform and the warranty is near unbeatable. On the downside, it takes 12-grams only and there's no autotrigger. That may or may not be a bad thing. For a more rifle-style marker, your best bet is a traccer/maverick on eBay. Don't be afraid to look in your local paintball store and even ask if they have anything in the junk bin in the back. A buddy of mine just bought a new in box, mint condition pre-Racine, WI Sheridan VM-68 in urban camo... for $50.

Lastly, I might as well say that you might be able to get a Tippmann pro-lite/carbine/pro-carbine for around $75. It'll take a little patience and hunting, but there's plenty of them out there and they're pretty cheap. If he wants to go the semi route, you can pick up a $75 semi new, but they're pretty poor quality. Look for an inexpensive used tippmann, hammer, traccer/maverick, sheridan pump or look into the sidekick. Hope that helps.

Good luck!
