Cocker to Pump Conversion Q's

Ok... Suddenly I've taken an interest in the prospect of pump ballin'. Instead of spending a good $250 or more on a Phantom, I'm set on converting my old, unreliable Cocker into a halfway-decent pump marker. I have a couple questions that need answering.

First off, what is the best pump kit available for a Cocker? I've heard good things about the CCM kit, but I want a little input from you guys.

Second, will I need a new set of springs or a new valve? Any other pump-essential internals?

Third, I'm not going to be playing stock class, and I'll be using my 68/3k Nitroduck tank. Should I run a gas-thru foregrip for the full 800psi effect, or do pump cockers require an input of about 425 like normal cockers do? (If no reg is needed, I'm running steel braid right from the ASA to the bottom of the front block.)

There are a bunch of choices when making your cocker into a pump. Since you are not planning on running stock class, dont worry about changing springs or valves.

As far as pump kits go, you have 3 options. The first is to get a kit from WGP. The pump is not that smooth and will have some wiggle, but it is cheap and will get the job done. Your second option is to get a kit from CCM. The CCM kits are very smooth and when combined with a autotrigger can be very fast for a pump. The draw back to the CCM kits is their price. Your last option is to buy a pump kit from White Wolf Airsmithing. His pumps are a compromise between the WGP and CCM kits. Much more stable than the WGP but not as Smooth as the CCM. The price is somewhere in the middle of the two other pumps.

If you've got the cash, go for the ccm, you won't regret it. If you aren't looking to spend much money, just get a wgp kit. I have one on my backup pump, and it shoots just fine, and the pump stroke isn't bad at all. Just not buttery like a ccm. As for psi, yes you will have to run a reg. Pump cockers need about 500psi, just like semi cockers.

It's not a steel tank, it's a Nitroduck 68/3k Fiber Wrapped.

Dont worry about your air tank. It is good to use the same hopper and tank setup on your pump that you use on your main gun. The gun will have a similar feel to it, allowing you to focus on your gun skills. When you go back to your electro you should turn out to be a little bit better player.

as stated above, valving, springing, and pressure don't need to change when you switch to pump. pretty much all you need is a pump kit.

have fun.

yes.

go with the ccm kit. you could find one used for pretty cheap. you get what you pay for and the ccm is a great kit. You don't wanna buy the wgp just to find out you don't like the feel and not wanna play pump. If that is ever the case with the ccm at least you can sell the gun with pump on it for a decent price.

warning pump play is addictive and you may not wanna use your electro anymore.

The CCM pump handles are nice.

On mine i got the CCM kit with the Autotriger 86* frame. The frame feel just about right and the triger once set up is slick. I can keep up with most mechanical semi-autos if I have to but my 40 round box does not give me alot of paint to spray.

Cocker Prostock 2k4 w/ CCM Economy Pump Kit

I picked up an Autococker Prostock 2k4 and used the CCM Economy pump kit. Prob is that at the Banjo Bolt, I had a leak. I tried to assess it and then just took out that bolt and put it back in and one of the O-rings wasn't in the hole all the way, so I was going take care of that and check my velocity and now my cocking rod is stuck and I've done about all I can think of to get it unstuck.
