My stuff sucks!

I have a rap4 t68 gens 6..The paint keeps busting in my magazine well. I wanted to know if there was anything I can do to stop this from happening. I spent all this f--kin money on this gun and it just breaks balls. I think it's the magazines. They don't feed the balls up fast or smooth enough. I want to avoid putting a hopper on the gun. That was the whole point of buying the gun. No hopper. What do I do?

Necesity is the mother of modification

Not AZN level price, there's not too many electro markers priced at the same level as the Talon.

It is.
Try and mod some nice ATS Mags or something on it.
Like Azn said, Mod, and Mod again!

Considering that the ATS and the T68 function night and day differently I wouldn't bother trying to mod it. Go to the Milsig forum and ask for some help. Milsig is the manufacturer of the T68 markers that Rap4 just rebrands like everything else they sell.

This is not correct, the Gen 6 is an all RAP-4 product that is if you believe their promo materials. Since the Gen 6 shares many common parts with earlier versions this is not a bad idea there may be something there that is helpful.

Have you called RAP-4 Tech support yet?
If not do so, the only problem I have ever had with my RAP-4 products was with my M-203 and tech support was excellent when I called them.

If you have the split fire adapter try using a hopper. If it feeds and shoots without breaking paint from a hopper then the magainzes are the problme area. If it breaks paint from the hopper then the marker is the most likely problem.
Other than a failed detent spring I have never had a problem with my T-68 so that call to tech support would be in order.

Alignment between the magazine, mag well and feed adapter can cause problems like this. See your parts list for these crews. Loosen the screws that hold the mag well in place(#6 & #55), the screw that holds the feed adapter to the top rail(#44). Insert a magazine and make sure it is propery locked in place then re-tighten the screws. It is a good idea to do his everytime you clean take it apart to clean it.

Make sure your magazines are clean, this cannot be stressed enough, even if you do not clean your marker after everyday at the fields you magazines must be. Dust, dirt and even paint or oils from your paintballs can build up inside the mags and cause major problems if they are not kept clean. I found that spraying the indes of the magazines with silicon spray before putting them back together helps.
Rough spots in the ball channel in the magazine, a bent or worn magazine spring, if the winder mecahnism inside the magazine does not release completely and unwind smoothly any or all of these could restrict the balls movement in the magazine and cause ball breaks, or balls being chopped by the bolt becaue they were only partially feed into the chamber.

Make sure your magazines are filled to the detents. If you have extra space the magazine will slam the paint into the bottom of the bolt when you insert it into the marker and the shock of this impact can cause paint with weak or brittle shells to break.

It is fact that a full pressure feed mechanism like the T-68 magazines and the Q-Loader are extremely hard on paint and many of the cheaper paints on the market are just not up to the demands that these systems place on a paintball. If you are using cheap painit try using a higher quality brand to see what happens.

I just bought the T68 AK And I know what you mean. Ive had paint bust in the mag once. Took it apart and cleaned it. the other time paint broke it choped the ball or something.

Anyway I would suggest buying slightly more expensive paint. I bought the next thickest paint at my local field. and I didint have another ball break on me that day.
Had any problems with the velocity? Mine was around 400 before that ball broke.

If you actually chronographerd your marker at 400fps you need to get a low velocity spring for it, call tech support at RAP-4 and let them know what is up they will probably send you a low velocity spring for free.

Shooting at 400 fps is dangerous so you need to deal with this issue if you have not already done so.

It would be a little more involved than a mod.

-_- I spspent extra money just so I would not have a hopper in my line of sight when Im playing paintball. Not only that but thats less area to get shot in. I HATE HOPPERS >.<

Edit:
Also I mean a T68 Drum instead of a t 68 mag. not just for looks but for functionality. Millsim GO!

Q-Loader is an option to consider if you don't want a hopper but need larger capacity than the magazines.
The mounting socket and pods can be covered and painted to look like an M-203 grenade launcher.
With a little clever use of the various fittings and connectors from Q-Loader they can be set up to feed into the marker through a modified magazine. Don't have pictures but I have seen them at several scenario and tactical tournies.

Another option is to use the Split-Fire adapter, feed the Q-Loadr into the hopper port and you still have magazines, mine and several other scenario/tactical players I know are set up this way. You can carry cheaper paint in the Q-Loader for those situations where maximum accuracy is not as critical as volume of fire. Keep a magazine in the marker and several others in pockets, pack or vest loaded with a really high quality paint for the times when maximum accuracy is needed over valume of fire.

If you have the time and the shop/tools making a 60 round drum magazine would be an great project with some interesting technical challenges to over come. For one possible idea look at the magazines for the ATS they use an interesting chain feed mechanism that could be adapted to a drum or larger box magazine. See this page for an animation of how the ATS chain feed mag system works.

The majority of hits in the hopper would have hit you in the face if the hopper wasn't in the way. Anyway good luck getting your hopper alternative to work properly.
